This is a wonderful hobby - I enjoy walking different cemeteries - taking photos - researching - and adding to the information on Find a Grave. |
- I appreciate edits and the additional information they add to memorials. I will check any suggested edits & request more information if I can't verify the information
- use any photos any where & any way you wish. If you have a better photo, I'll delete upon request.
- generally happy to transfer memorial (if I am not related) Please let me know your connection. I also look to see what you've contributed to Find a Grave and how long you've been a member. When I've transferred in the past and it just sits there with no additions, or the volunteer has disappeared, I get very disappointed. (does not apply to 4 generation rule of course)
PLEASE PLEASE do NOT add a photo of an obituary to any of the memorials I've made. Please paraphrase it, add the source and then use the last edit option to send it to me. I'll add your contributor # to the source unless you request I don't. I LOVE having the information from an obituary - it helps with maiden names and linking as well as rounding out the memorial. BUT, please don't add it as a photo.
I am currently working off a wonderful database developed by THE TROY IRISH GENEALOGY SOCIETY for St. Josephs Waterford cemetery. I'm mowing rows and adding photos as well. I prefer to add one by one rather than uploading a database as I can make links more effectively.
In Mountain View Cemetery I am slowly mowing rows and adding names from the database Compiled by Minnie Cohen in June 1939

I made a correction, my grandfather, Russell was cremated and his ashes were scattered at the Park View Cemetery.

Thank you for your attempt.
Note from Help withe F.A.G-
"There has been a recent change that "a memorial created after death will be preferred over a pre-need memorial"."

Sorry but the obit that appeared in The Wash. Post, 8-13-2016, did not list the names of her parents.

Thanks, Jeni. I’ll look forward to seeing that new picture later on. It looks as if maybe the marker identifies her as
MARGARET – WIFE OF
RCHD. JEROME HIXSON
or something like that, but I can’t tell exactly; and it does appear to say she was born in 1910 (not in 1912 as some records indicate). That would make her 40 when she died, not 38 as the obituary says.
For now, would you like to add the picture of the lot (with the "NEWCOMB/RIDDELL/HIXSON" stone) to her page, so it will say “Added by Jeni” instead of “Added by pkgriffin”?

I've just created a page for Madge Hixson (#176252670) in Section B, Lot 736 at Park View Cemetery, Schenectady, and found her stone in your photograph of the lot which appears on the pages for the Riddells and Newcombs buried in the other graves there. I've cropped the picture and uploaded that piece of it for the time being, but maybe you already have a good one to replace it with.
