I am a retired Army Officer, Civil War enthusiast, and amateur genealogist with an excellent camera. I am also an old geezer who needs the exercise I get walking the 100+ cemeteries of Rockbridge County, Virginia (most of them are hilly). |
For those of you relying on me responding quickly to photo requests, the situation has changed. Due to my age and decreased mobility, there are a few cemeteries I can no longer negotiate. But I will in most instances give it a try if the route from my car to the marker is fairly even and cleared ground.
If anyone is not satisfied with any photo of a grave marker that I have taken, please let me know via email and I will be glad to either remove it or retake the image. Likewise, if I create a memorial that is offensive or incorrect in any way, let me know and I will either correct the information or remove the memorial.
I try hard to take a photograph where the information on the marker is readable in the image. I DO NOT CLEAN STONES, but upon request, I will return when there is a different light situation to see if I can capture a better image. Also, I do not post images to a memorial that already has a photo unless there is a request for a better photo. But I may at times add a photo to a memorial that has no image even without a request.
Family members have my permission to privately use my photos of the grave markers of your ancestors for genealogical purposes on sites such as Ancestry.com or Rootsweb.com, but DO NOT COPY elsewhere on Find A Grave, Billion Graves, other sites listing graves, the internet or for commercial use. My photos all have a copyright embedded in the image metadata. Please email me if you use one of my photos so I know they are being appreciated elsewhere.
I will be glad to transfer any memorial I have created if it is for one of your ancestors within 4 generations and not in my direct line. Once I transfer a memorial, you may alter it, but it shall NOT be deleted.
Please send ALL requests for CORRECTIONS, CHANGES OR TRANSFERS via the EDIT feature on the specific memorial (top right tab), that way I can identify the correct site.

Thank you for taking the photo of Bruce Kern's headstone. Bruce was an original news anchor for WTIC-TV (Channel 3) in Hartford, CT. He started at the station at its inception (1957). He continued to be the main anchor (M-F), until the station was sold to WFSB in 1974. Kern retired & died of heart trouble 3 years later. He was buried back in his hometown in Virginia. Channel 3 has been running ads which commemorates its 60th anniversary. The ad includes a 5 second clip of Bruce Kern.

Thank you for posting the picture of their gravestone. They were my maternal great grandparents. I never got to meet him. I vaguely remember visiting her when I was very young.

Hello Carl Weaver and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,
Thank you for adding Forrest Wilson Beale's middle name to his Find A Grave Memorial at Evergreen in Lexington. I know his VA provided grave stone doesn't include that "e" on the end of his name. I went back through all the original documents I have for him, and he only used the "e" half the time when he was signing his name in life. Just wanted to also thank you for taking the time to put these folks on the Find A Grave site. I and his family really appreciate it.

|Beth Bartley||William Franklin Snider # 70572903|
My name is Beth Bartley and I just had a question about the photo you posted to William Franklin Snider's memorial # 70572903. Do you know all the people in that photo and if so, could you provide me with the names from left to right? I am very curious. My grandfather is Wally Poole. He lives on Dutch Hollow Road in Brownsburg. His mother was Hallie Theresa Swisher Poole. Her mother Nora Lee Snider Swisher died at a young age from an illness and nobody in the family knows much about the lineage. Nora's father was John David (J.D.) Snider. J.D. was William Franklin's little brother. So that is my connection. I hope you can help. I would love to know if the people in the photo are related to me. Thank you so much for your consideration.
Carl, thank you so much for looking. I'm sorry you had to walk so far for so little. Like you, I'm retired Army and a Civil War enthusiast who loves tramping through graveyards. Lived in Lexington for four years way back when. Keep on.

Carl, Thank you so much for your time and the photos. I appreciate that you took the photo of the section of the cemetery with the unmarked graves. Martha
