I enjoy spending free time in cemeteries and doing genealogy. I also collect antique books and photographs of all varieties. |
These are my main surnames of interest; please contact me to exchange info/photos: Mayville, Diebold, Star[c]k, Walsh, Hurst, Tice, Walter, Emmerich, Hess, Hagemann, Brandmueller, and Liebenow, among many others.
Check out my Brick Walls. Maybe you can help?
*My grandpa Mayville (1931 - 2015)
*My cousin Sydney (2000-2016)
*My grandma Mayville (1929 - 2017)
-Please credit me if using my photos elsewhere!! This includes Ancestry.com, your personal genealogy page, etc. I don't mind if you use my photos, just please cite your source!
-Please submit any additions, corrections or transfer requests via the "edit" tab on each individual memorial. I add memorials one at a time (not in mass uploads as some do) in an effort to increase accuracy, but no one is perfect. If you are submitting edits for which the records or other sources are difficult to find, please send me a message to let me know what your sources are for the information.
-I have no problem transferring as long as they are not my family; however, I do not support "memorial collectors." The goal of F-A-G is not to "own" memorials for each member of your family, but to make sure each memorial is as accurate as possible.
My most meaningful work on Find-a-grave are the cemeteries I have fully photographed / transcribed. These cemeteries are special because (in most cases) I am related to many buried there:
-Lawrence/Cady Cemetery (Brown Co., WI 2006-07)
-Saint Louis Catholic Cemetery (Caledonia, WI 2009-10)
-Fairview Cemetery (Greenleaf, WI, 2010)
-St. James Catholic Cemetery (Oak Creek, WI 2010)
-Saint Mary of the Lake Catholic Cemetery (Westport, WI, 2012)
& the following portions of Resurrection Cemetery in Madison, WI:
Section 1, Blocks 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7 (2012-13)
Section 2, Blocks 1, 5, 6, & 7 (2014)
Section 3, Blocks 11, 12, 13, 21, 22, 23, 31, 32, 33 & 42 (2013-14)
Section 4, Blocks 11, 12, 13, 21 & 22 (2014)
Section 5 (2014)
I have photographed the following but haven't uploaded yet:
Section 2, Blocks 2, 3 & 4 (2015)
Section 6 (2014)
Section 8 (2014)

|Susan Doble||Jean Elizabeth Gilson|
Here is the message I just got about JEAN ELIZABETH GILSON, from Chuck Taylor (Auschuck@aol.com) in Austin, Texas which confirms that Jean's father was William F Gilson. And we already know that he was married to Mildred Gilchrist.
"My late wife's second cousin and I walked that cemetery in the summer of 2003. Took lots of photos. I have a photo just like the one on Find-A-Grave - only better. Jean's father was William F. Gilson. William's parents were Ansel Theodore Gilson and Effie Maria Clark. My late wife's second cousin's maiden name is Clark. She has been researching the Clarks of Wisconsin for years. Fear not, this is a good link that you are proposing. It won't come back to haunt you!"
|Susan Doble||RE: (1) Bertha & Lucius Clark and (2) Jean Gilson|
Hi Jade. I may have been premature in making these suggestions as the information comes from others' family trees. In light of this, I'm going to remove those requests from my list.
Since the information about Jean Elizabeth Gilson came from just one other family tree, I've contacted that person directly to see if he can provide any further support for the claim that she was the daughter of William Forrest Gilson (1889-1962) and Mildred Gilchrist (1891-1957). If that support comes through, then I'll submit the request again.
Thanks for your diligence. When I save FindAGrave memorials to my family tree, I try to take the time to fill in missing information, particularly links to parents and spouses, but I will, in the future, make sure that I have more to go on than just others' family trees!
|Aaron O||RE: Fidelia and John Riley|
Thanks for making the edits to Josephine Gustman's memorial. My primary source for these edits are family records (the Gustmans and Rileys are my relatives). As for evidence of Terry as Fidelia's maiden name, I have a copy of her death certificate which lists her parents as Ezra Terry and Esther Church.
Additionally, I have John E. Riley (my ancestor)'s pension records for Civil War service, which list his middle initial as E. There are numerous other records that also have his middle initial as E., but it appears he used an alias (he admitted to it when applying for a pension) when enlisting which may be why you have seen a different middle initial for John, as it seems he had a hard time keeping them straight!
Glad I could provide my sources.

Hi! I sent an email to you. I found a marriage record for Mary's sister Bridget to James Welch (Walsh/Welsh) that indicates Bridget Carey (dau.) was born in West Rutland, Vt., and several pictures of her sisters. The Carey family moved from West Rutland, Vermont shortly after Bridget (dau.) was born in 1860. By 1862 when Ella (Carey) Dreher was born she was born in Oregon, WI. Contact me at either my yahoo or gmail for any you would like forwarded. Cheers!

Sorry this took so long, you probably forgot about it by now. There is a church record from the ELCA that lists Ernest's birth and the date along with his parents' names. It's not easy to read and it's in German but the date is there. If you want me to send a copy for your records you can send me your email address. Hope that helps!

no problem... thanks
|ttaylornorth||RE: Arlene Wells|
Oh. Sweet. We can do that!
|ttaylornorth||RE: Arlene Wells|
Not sure we'll be able to do that.. we're getting ready to move to South Dakota this Saturday!
|Judie Urbanek||Bertram Harper|
Sometime last year as I was adding family connections, I added Bertram Harper to the St. Joseph Cemetery in Appleton, WI. (His daughter married my granduncle.) At the time, I didn't notice that you already had some info for him.
I've added some other Harper connections, and wondered whether you might consider transferring his Find-a-Grave responsibility to me.
I've added some further info for him and a photo of the gravestone.
