|Twenty-five years ago a friend told me she had a new hobby, genealogy, and how much fun she was having. I immediately contacted my mother who informed me that we owned six family Bibles. I have been deep into this ever since. I started with my mother's family in Loudoun County, VA. Her parents were third cousins, a fact she did not know. Of course I added my father's family, my husband's family, and both my daughter-in-law's and son-in-law's families. Then by adding wives, mothers, sisters, brothers, ancestors, descendants, I have ended up with a database of about 37,000. All are related to me or to someone I am related to. |
Most of my time has been spent in Loudoun County, Virginia. I wrote two books on Union Cemetery in Leesburg, a book on Monocacy Cemetery in Bealsville, Montgomery County, MD, Death Records of Fairfax County, VA, and co-authored books on the Death Records of Loudoun County, VA and Marriages after 1850 in Loudoun County, Va. I have also been involved in the preparation of Cemetery Books published by Thomas Balch Library. All of these books are available through Heritage Books.
I am more than happy to share any information I have. My cemetery pictures are there for anyone who needs them. They have been taken over the last 19 years. I will ask that you let me know if you are using a family picture because that means you are probably at least a cousin and I want to know you.
If you see errors, please let me know. Let's get all these people linked! But PLEASE everyone, use the Edit button on the memorial that needs changing! It takes about 2 minutes to make changes using that button. It can take 1/2 an hour or more to find the memorial you would like changed, if you don't use that button, and often I cannot be sure if I am looking at the correct person even then. In that case I may spend an hour or more looking. That takes away from someone else's time. Be fair!

Thank you so much for allowing me to manage the memorials for the Marshall family (Eliza, Julia, Charles, and Jacquelin) that you so kindly transferred to me. I really appreciate it. :)

Thank you very much, Betty. I will put up the current photo in the interim, with thanks to you.

Betty, may we put a copy of the stone photo that you put up for 55638560 (Wendell Sutphin) onto his wife's page which I just created -- No. 180718519.
Or give us permission to do so. Thank you very much. Larry and Karen. We continue to highly value your Union Cemetery books! Thank you.

Quick question. What is your source for Elizabeth Fouch Russell as mother to Charlye Ann Elizabeth Jane Russell and Eliza Russell. A June 1826 Deed of Gift names Sarah McCarty Russell deeding to 3 daughters [CAEJane, Eliza, and Sally] both dower slaves and slaves "owned outright." My understanding is that Sarah Elizabeth Ann McCarty and John Russell were their parents. Sarah was daughter to Thaddeus McCarty and Sarah Elizabeth Richardson. Any help you can offer can possibly prevent me from barking up the wrong tree. Thanks.

|Diane Gehr||Cornelia Hafner|
Hi Betty, thanks for the info. I would appreciate
that. Thanks for taking and uploading the photo!
|Diane Gehr||RE: Cornelia Hafner|
Hi Betty, I am not sure what that means (to transfer). Also, my Grandfather (Cornelia's
brother) is buried at The Evergreens in NYC
and my dad Donald J Gehr is here in Phoenix AZ.
Almost none of my family in The Evergreens comes
up on Findagrave. I am going to enter them from
the cemetery records we have.
Also, did you know that Cornelia and Conrad had
a another brother, George Gehr who married
Stella Hill and they had three children as well.
I was interested in knowing how you are related
to Cornelia. This is sort of new to me, and
unfortunately, we did not get to know her or
her daughter Patricia or their children.
|Diane Gehr||Cornelia Hafner|
Betty, My ancestor Cornelia Hafner's maiden
name is Gehr and she is my Grandfather's sister
on my Dad's side (my dad is Donald J Gehr,
my Grandfather is Conrad P Gehr).
