With much of my immediate family growing in and around the Washington D.C area for generations, I was never overly curious about family history. After a friend who was more interested than I found photos of relatives gravesites in other states who were born during the time of Andrew Jackson I was amazed. Even a marker for my grandmother's unnamed infant son which I had seen in home movies had been photographed by someone.|
I am most familiar with DC area's, Holy Rood, Arlington Cemetery, Oak Hill and Cedar Hill Cemetery on Pennsylvania Avenue. I have taken many photos for my own enjoyment and for friends over the years, but realize others are often not so near.
Note also, feel free adding a photo to any of my memorials, as different time of day, light and opportunity may aid in clarity and appreciation to a loved one or researcher. The older photos on this site do not allow you to zoom in, plus digital cameras are much improved since the early 2000's.

|Martha Payne Tucker||Hicks family|
I am descended from James and Margaret Helen Newton Hicks. I am also descended from the Sydenham Dietz family mentioned in Margaret's blurb. In my ancestry search, I have James born in 1812 and death around 1880. One of the Hicks children, Helen Victoria Hicks (Dietz) is my 2nd great grandmother. She married Sydenham Dietz. Their daughter, Lillian Loretto Dietz married Vivian Elmore Lake, my great grandfather. This branch of the family is in Congressional Cemetery. I have James and Margaret's children as: Robert Fielding Hicks, Anna Martha Hicks, Bennett Clarence Hicks, Helen Victoria Hicks, John Walter Hicks and Walter Hicks. I have a few more, but they could be mistakes in my Ancestry tree. Hope you can find more on James. Thanks for what you've found so far.
Martha Payne Tucker

|JMac||RE: Mary V.|
Sent you the actual dob for James R. You were correct that Mary V and John R are children of John and Mary Longson Bickerton. There eldest son, Charles is now connected too. Am working on their daughter, Anna Brown/Wickham b1876 - last living in NJ. And daughter, Grace Krieger b1881 - last living in NY. Another daughter was born in 1889. Thanks, Randy

Thank you for looking into this. I changed the date to 1920 and indicated the conflicting info in the bio.

Accepted the edits you sent for Thomas Carr, but changed the date of death back to 1919 to reflect what is on the stone. Do you have a source to show that the stone is in error? If so, I can put that with the 1920 year in the notes.
