I tried to add Marie's parents Charlotte (Knapp) and Patrick Tierney onto the parents list, but it won't let me edit. Here are their information below:

William Hiter Crabtree
I note that you have left Hiter in the Crabtree Cemetery in Tannersville and placed his wife into an Unknown cemetery.

I just noticed that the father of Hiter was Gabriel one of the pioneers in the valley. I would suggest that you keep the 2 together in the Crabtree Cemetery in Tannersville given Hiter was Gabriel's son though I am kot sure anyone knows wher Gabriel is buried.

I do not know whether you have seen the photo Hiter and Mollie on the internet. If you have go to to view.

I have sent a post to the person who posted the photo and asked if he was a relative and suggested he look at Hiter's memorial and is he agrees to post the photo on his memorial.

You may want to coordinate with him if he is familiar with the Crabtree family.

It's very nice to see that it's been preserved. I've been intimate with this ground since around 1971. While I-64 was being built surveyors came to my grandparents place asking about it. My grandmother tried to tell them exactly where it was. I got on my horse and it was as if the horse knew exactly where I was wanting to go as she took me straight to it and stopped. I had spent hours for a few seasons pulling back honeysuckle and clearing it. I found stones buried in years of deteriorated vegetation which most likely added in their preservation. I even found one large sandstone head marker. Back then there was no way to reach it but to fight through the thicket. I think I still have fotos I took some 30+ years ago some where.

Anyway...I just wanted to say thanks for your efforts.

I am preparing a book on the Cemeteries in Freestone and Little Valleys. One of the cemeteries is the Crabtree where the subject memorial you created is located.

I am trying to have accurate sources for each of the persons in the book so I am doing searches. I found the death record for William Hiter Crabtree that shows his remains were sent to Gratton Virginia.

His wife Mary's Death Record show her buried in a Crabtree Cemetery in Gratton, Virginia. Note that their daughter is buried in the Dunnigan Cemetery in Gratton. I have seen many cases where the name of a cemetery changes so perhaps the Dunnigan cemtery was once known as the Crabtree as 6 of the 11 burials there are Crabtree's.

I would appreciate any information that definitively defines where William is buried.

William Hiter Crabtree
I have the Virginia Death Records for William and it shows date of birth as Feb. 18, 1866. See

The death record also show burial in Gratton, Virginia and middle name spelled Hayter.

The above are not always accurate but thought yu might like to evaluate.

Also have marriage record and recommend be added to BIO "William and Mary married in Tazewell County 25 December 1887.

Hiram Bartlett #133333940
Do you know if Hiram Bartlett has a tomb stone? He should have received one from being in the war. If he doesn't how could I get in touch with the cemetery to learn about putting one on his grave? He has been lost so long to our family that I would like to make sure he stays found.

Thanks so much for getting back with me and also for linking Henry Bartlett to his father. When you finish your book let me know, I'd love to purchase a copy since is would seem we are cousins, and I am always eager to learn more about my family history.

Blessing to you and yours.

I seen that you created the memorial for my Great Grandfather Hiram Bartlett, I was wondering if you were related to him, if so how...I am researching my family line on the Bartlett side. Also if you are not related to him would you consider transferring his memorial to me so that I can link him to his family.

Thank you so much for the beautiful memorial to honor a Civil War Hero!

RE: George and Ruby Harmon
Hello Michael,

Thank you for your quick action on clearing this situation. I have removed the temporary memorials I had placed for Old Union Cemetery for your family members. I downloaded the photos before deleting and have already placed them on your memorials.

As you can imagine, I love spending time in cemeteries, especially lovely old ones like Old Union in Lincoln. It is such a lovely and peaceful place.

If I can ever help you with any photos from the Springfield, IL (and central Illinois) cemeteries, please don't hesitate to ask.

My best,
