RE: I removed the parents of Jacob Shupe!

This also needs to be removed. This is the story of Jacob's uncle Jacob Shupe (1788-1856) who is buried in Washington, Virginia.
Thanks**
Carma

JACOB SHUPE was born c1788. He married Molly/Mary Magdeline Phillipy May 19 1814 in Wythe Co by Rev John Stanger. The family was listed in the Washington Co census 1830-50. Their children were John Shupe 1817-1912 Edwards Co, IL (m Levina Miles c1840), Polly 1819/20, Mary Magdalene 1825, Jacob 1832, George Joseph Shupe 1833-90 (m Cameline Reecie Brown 1872), Alexander c1833-35?, Catherine 1834, Barbara 1835, Molly 1837, Hezekiah/Kiah Shupe c1838 (in Civil War/CSA), Rosannah 1839, Ann 1840-99?, Eliza 1842 and Amanda Jane 1843. Jacob died May 26, 1856 from injuries he received while working on one of the buildings at the Emory & Henry College and is buried at Clark cemetery in Glade Springs, Washington Co, VA. His gravestone is in existance: "In Memory of JACOB SHUPE, died May 26, 1856, Aged About 68 years." It is listed in the book High On A Windy Hill which is a listing of Washington Co, VA gravestones.

RE: Prove it?
=========================================
There is confusion on two men name Jacob Shupe.
One is born in 1788 and is the son of John Shupe and Anna Catherine Shlemp. The other one is his nephew Jacob Shupe born in 1798 and is the son of John Shupe and Louisa Ferguson.

Jacob (1798-1869) married Delila Moyers and died in 1869 in Kentucky.(age 71)
Jacob (1788-1856) married Mary Magdalene Phillippi and died in Virginia.(age 68)
=================================================

You need to correct your FindAGrave information on Jacob Shupe (1798-1869). The information you have listed below on Jacob Shupe's page (1798) belongs to his uncle, Jacob Shupe (1788-1856). Also, take Jacob Shupe (1788) off as a sibling.

The copied article you have at the top is correct.
Thanks**

RE: Ben Wood
Thanks, Eva! I really appreciate it. As far as my connection to Uncle Bennie, it goes like this from me, to my father, Harry Bowman, to his mother, Hazel Baker Bowman, to her mother, Lora Wood Baker Havens. Lora and Ben were brother and sister. Their parents were William Leonides Wood and Alice Veloma Baum. They lived in the Wood/Baum mansion on ManderRoad north of Rte 6. The house is still there, but the property is pretty overgrown. Are you related to Ben? I believe he had three daughters, Fern, Dorothy,Thelma and one son. not sure if he has any close family left in the area. I know I'm giving you more info than you want, but you asked!! Thanks again!

Pic of Ben Wood
Hi,
I'm wondering if you would give me permission to use the photo of Ben Wood in my family tree on Ancestry. Ben was my great uncle, and I have fond memories of visiting his store in Burdick. He was my great grandmother's brother. The family was raised in what they called Jackson Farms. I would also like to suggest that you offer the picture to the group that is doing the book Memories Along the South Shore. I think they might be interested in using it.

Although I do not remember Don driving a school bus, the picture is certainly of Don.

I found nice photos to post to both Don and Isabelle's Find A Grave records but Find A Grave would not accept them because the max of 5 each had been reached.

I would be happy to email them to you. Since the newspaper obits count as photos, you might be able to take the obits out and write a bio for each with the correct information and then include the photos if you want to use them.

Find A Grave seems to have no limit on the size of the bio area. Just send me your email. Mine is Tcollins66@att.net.
