Bio and Links
Bio Photo My name is Vickie. I grew up in Swannanoa, N.C. and now I live in Asheville. I enjoy researching family history and walking through cemeteries to read stones. Everyone deserves to be remembered. Someone somewhere loved them. Thanks to the great contributors here at Find a Grave, I have been able to see the graves of many family members that I would have never seen if it wasn't for their generosity. It is so nice to be able to visit a loved one's grave and not even leave the house.

If any of my memorials contain errors, or if you have information to add, please send me a message or an edit. All memorials are done with the utmost respect of those who have passed on and those of us left behind.

Graveyards

When my soul is restless
And things seem out of line,
I visit an old graveyard
To take a mystical step back in time.

I find the oldest tombstones
Then read the messages there;
I consider what their days had been
And how our lives in ways compare.

We all have lived though heartaches
As well as episodes of fun;
Surviving loss of loved ones,
And rewarded for a job well done.

Sometimes if I'm very still
I can hear what they have to say
And feel them reaching out to me
Grateful for my momentary stay.

Glenn Plonk
Perhaps A Relative?
I am the son of Zeb Oates Plonk and Rachel Gale Walraven Plonk I attended many family reunions at the old C.S. Plonk home in Kings Mountain up until my late teen years. I met many relatives for the first time at those events but can not remember meeting anyone from the Oates line. I have not attended a reunion in over 50 years, but my sister Jane Plonk Sims did as she lived in Tenn. She passed away in 2013.

I attended church in the old white clap country church where only the grave yard remains today. I plan to return to the Kings Mountain area to visit the sites I remember and my parents and grandparents grave sites.

Memorial # 134124202
Hello, Vickie.

Just information you might need to change on Rosa Mae Spry's Memorial.

Rosa Mae was the daughter of LULA SPRY, not Noah and Carrie.

Rosa Mae's father is unknown, and that would make her the niece of Nora Myrtle Spry.

Lula Spry was my aunt, and Nora Myrtle Spry Vanderburg was my grandmother.

Hello Vickie, FYI,the photo on Memorial# 58274727 doesn't belong to that Maria Beale Fletcher. Can you please remove it? I am currently doing research on this family line as part of my husband's family. Miss America 1962 had different parents plus in 1962 that would make Miss America 55 years old. LOL Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Granite maker says "Roy", you say "Ray". Is it worth looking into on your end. I can delete photo if you desire.

George Adam Seitz 138745541
My name is Earleen Thompson Sides, and I have been researching the Seitz/Sides family for many years. I just came upon your Find-A-Grave for the subject George Adam Seitz, and notice you reference Gracie Seitz Cook as a provider of information. Is there any way you can forward my request for her to contact me at 205-305-6504. I am especially interested to see if George Adam Seitz is closely related to JoHanne Hendrick Seitz who was born in Hesse Germany about 1711 and died in Anson County, North Carolina 08 Jul 1766. Johanne married Dorothea Elizabeth Felsinger in 1734 in Germany. They became the ancestors of my husband, Carl Raymond Sides, Jr. I can also be reached at EarleenSides@gmail.com. I look forward to hearing from you or Gracie - thanks!!!

Ms. Woods, would you look at this memorial and help me with a photo? You have listed an infant son, but the marker is imprinted with daughter. It will be no problem if you think it is a son, I can make the picture go away. Thanks for your good work. ron

the boyds
hello vickie iam melissa ( mitzi gail craigmiles) from kentucky now living in indiana with my husband james craigmiles. i sponsored dorothy boyd and plan to also sponsor spencer boyd jr and james gregory boyd next week on pay day for me. I use to live in asheville nc. in 2004-2006 and lived in marion ( mcdowell co. nc. and a few places in north carolina. I began dating spencer boyd jr and dorothy boyd's oldest son william scott boyd he was a alchoholic with quiet a reputation in black mtn. and in asheville nc. he was known for drinking and doing things not good. but i met him while i lived with my boss lady anita middleton in asheville nc. at her home we both rented a room there apiece. in her home. and we began dating and moved out together. i didn't know the boyd's of montreat who owned camp merrimac and camptimberlake before this time frame since iam from kentucky i had never heard of the camps or the boyds, me and their oldest son called ( scott) shared a life together it was not a good life and i explained it well on the find a grave memorial i added for him. i broke it off with him soon after he moved to louisville ky ( my hometown) with me in 2006. he remained in louisville till his death in 2015. people said he looked for me always in louisville. but I had married someone else i met soon after moving back home in 2006. scott was a business and got drunk and busted my auto windshield a man rescued me from scott and pulled him off my vehicle. and i married the rescuer. he soon liked scott boyd they becaME FRIENDS IN KENTUCKY. but me and my new husband moved 4-5 miles from louisville ky into indiana. and scott lost track of us both. about 2007. so in 2015 i decided i would try and find scott boyd on facebook or the internet and i found where spencer had died and dorothy and then i saw william scott coe boyd's death in louisville ky. I called the coroner in louisville and verifed his name age ss# number and birthdate it was him. scott died july 24 2015 in louisville ky. in a old apt house near shelby park in downtown louisville ky. so i created a memorial page to my old ex live in then i saw someone else had created a memorial page also but mine gave details of our relationship from 2004-2006 or so. and it showed on this other memorial page someone else created thaT a tombstone was put up for scott boyd at ridge crest ceme. in black mtn north carolina. but I know for a fact he was cremated in louisville ky as a indigent person i was told that. so i do not know if the tombstone was just errected in his memory or if his children alex and cameron boyd buried his ashes there and came and got them in kentucky. I had been worried in my heart that his ashes was sitting on a shelf somewhere here in kentucky and no one to claim him. i have been inside dorothy ( dot coe boyd and spencer boyd jr.large home in montreat. and been with scott to see his brother adam boyd and his wife at the camp. and of course scott was drunk when we went there and adam and his wife ask us both to leave the property, to me was very rude at the time because i was not drinking and i brought scott there at his request but apparently he was kind of the black sheep of his family as well as his brother james gregory boyd ( jimmy) he is now deceased also. but i will never forget scott boyd or his parents or family. they were a part of my life for several yrs. i brought scott back to louisville he met my mom at her nursing home. she fell in love with the little drunk imp william scott coe boyd. she said ask him to marry you maybe you can stop him from alchoholism. no his death was due to achesmic heart disease brought on by alchoholism. but I loved him and always will. thank you mitzi gail
