John W Esterline

I just spent several hours in the Bernie cemetery. There is no marker for John W. Esterline (d 1937). He is not listed in the book "Cemeteries of Stoddard County 1839-1992".

I also reviewed the cemetery interments maintained at the Bernie City Hall. He is not listed in the records at city hall.

In addition, I obtained his funeral record from the Mathis-Rainey Funeral Home. It does not indicate where he was buried.

John W Esterline's son, Thomas Elmer, purchased a 10 space plot where Thomas Elmer's son, Leroy Esterline is buried. Since Leroy died in 1934, there was a space for John W. that could have been used. The space next to Thomas Elmer is marked "Filled" on the city's graphical record; it is very possible that this is the grave of John W.

BTW, there are 3 interments in this plot that have no marker, but the graphical record at city hall indicates their names: Baby (Dawn Esterline, stillborn baby in 1928), Eugene Esterline (son of John W., died 1965), and William Edward Esterline, son of Thomas Elmer, died 1997).

Note: The original records burned and the existing record (both at city hall and in the book) are generally based on actual tombstones.

Katherine Esterline
I saw that you maintain the memorial for Katherine Allen Esterline # 46329739. Katherine was my Great grandfathers sister. I wondered if you have any additional info on the Allen family? My dad was Robert Earl Allen. His father passed away when he was only 6 years old. I have not had much luck finding many details about the Allen's.

I was at the cemetery today to get pictures. He is not on the transcription list and I didn't notice a headstone for him. However, I concentrated on the ones on the transcription list so he may be in there somewhere. I did not do anything with the request in case someone else gets out there before I do. If not, I will look more closely then. Sorry.

Regarding Crow Memorials
Thank you so much for your support. I have got all the burials listed from local historical society cemetery books - which have been turned over to AL State Archives for their library. Churches have come and gone over the past years, cemeteries are abandoned and renamed.
My only reason for listed memorial was for family or someone local to remember these people. Which he has.

Thank you again for the support. And I do use Find A Grave guidelines, but sometimes I just let go.

Thank you again

RE: Regarding Crow Memorials
I don't agree with you. I don't care how many memorials I have. I have already transferred the memorials to the person that is related. I only am trying to provide the easiest option for everyone. You evidently see this problem differently. I do not enter memorials unless I know for certain there is a burial. The incorrect memorials were entered from a book and the cemetery was not visited.

RE: Regarding Crow Memorials
I have already contacted J. Lowery to ask the memorials be deleted. I have also sent all the memorial numbers.
Thanks, Bill

Karla I have checked out all the Ivy's at that cemetery and you are correct. They are all related. I have gone to the library and gotten copies of all the obits to see how they were related.
Have you been to my Ancestry tree and looked around? If you like I can add you as one to see living and pasted away relatives. I need which email address to extend it to. Let me know now that you have my email address.
