RE: Joseph Beagley marker
Hi,
This is complicated and time consuming but you can get the intake record going to this site that is run by LDS family library. It is not yet index so it is a page search but the beginning section has an index of the pages that does help you find the correct page. I does not give much more information than you get from the birth record. It might help you see if he was listed more than once or sent some where else after he was discharged in 1884. My computer is being slow so I will send your the written links to help. Write me because it is the unique way LDS does things. You change do it under their usual search.

This link:
http://libhost.uml.edu/items/show/7250.
is for the UMASS Lowell records that are digitalized. They are probably only about 25% completed.

RE: Joseph Beagley marker
Hi Alice,
I love the Bamberg name! I am a USA military employee that spent 6 years in Bamberg, Germany. It is a lovely place. In addition, I was born in WA but my Mom's family was from Boston. My daughter that was raised all over the world but selected to attend a University near Boston but she spent a great deal of her summer time in WA as my family is concentrated there. She is a WA driver so that makes it officially her home of record.

Alice, can you email me? I have some great ways to try to get records on him that are free.

Thank you for your kind words that make me feel as if my extra efforts to play it forward are really worthwhile.

Your great-grandfather's marker in Tewksbury are all the same. I would like to let you know that the cemetery and local people are working like crazy to keep the forest and element from destroying years of work. there is lots of issues but it is volunteers that are doing the work. I am sending you the link for his facebook and also the go fund me. They need money to prune the literal forest that keeps overtaking the grave. I urge you to provide them something as they have worked beyond belief. They keep trying to help us to have knowledge of more about our family members by keeping our loved ones in the news and not allowing the cemetery to become hidden again. Just imagine there are over 10,000 burials there. They have been working since 2000. Tom Marshall spearheads it. Here is their contact:

Chester E. Hayward
Dear Alice,

You're very welcome. When the request includes a lot location as Chester's memorial did it makes it easy to find. I was also struck by the fact that his marker is almost directly in front of the flag pole, so I made sure to take one of it as well.

Sincerely,

Sean Pickett

Joseph Beagley, Tewksbury, MA
The memorial you created appears to be a duplicate of #123556485. I walked through part of the cemetery today and found no names and only some markers with numbers. I don't know if the numbers were patient numbers or has some other significance. The ones I saw were two or three digits. The cemetery is now a wooded area and many of the markers are only half visible because of the layer of pine needles and leaves.

He is there. Single grave 922. I checked with the office and looked twice in the area where he was buried. The grave is simply unmarked.

You're most welcome, Alice. I'm sorry I couldn't have captured the photo when the plants looked better.
Happy to be of service,
