Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a Cornwell. My Cornwells came to VA in the 1600's and then immigrated through OH and on into IL. My dad and I have been researching the Cornwell family for well over 25 years. Rather than focus solely on my line, I have had an interest in all people with the Cornwell name--trying to link them all together.

I also have a particular interest in the burials of Clark County, IL, where much of my family resides. Please send any additions and corrections to my memorials using the edit tab on the top right corner of the memorial page to make it easier for me to make the proper corrections.

This marriage of James S. Conwell to Virginia Lyons was under the name of Conwell.
Also, one child of the marriage is not listed, Cyril Ralph Conwell, 1884-1964

After Virginia's death James S. Conwell returned to Virginia and remarried under the name of Cornwell.

Arminta Ann Morgan

In the memorial for Arminta Ann Morgan, you indicate that Lucretia Rea Morgan York (130751838) is a half sibling. I haven't found any indication that Lucretia is not the natural child of Jeremiah and Eliza. Would you be able to point me in the direction of documentation that indicates she is not? I'd like my records to be as complete as possible and I seem to be missing this piece.

I have corrected my spelling error of first name.., Thanks! The addition of photographs was also appreciated..., photos always enhance a memorial. If you desire, I can transfer this memorial to your care.

Mary A Cornwell
There were at least three women by the name of Mary A. Cornwell b. 1856-1857 in Orange County, Indiana. (One married a David Beatty, which is how the name Cornwell got on my radar.) Do you have info on these women? Specifically, evidence of who was the daughter of who? Here are the memorials that I know of:

Ruth V. Hurt
Hi Cindy
Thank you for updating Ruth V. Hurt's plot at the cemetery. I admire all the work you do.

Would it be possible for you to let me manage her grave? Ruth is my aunt and I manage her husband and their son Larry.

Her # is 86892681 and mine is 48065984.

Thanks a million...

grave location

please call St Joseph's Cemetery for grave locations for MOUNT CALVARY: Phone: (614) 491-4264
the requests have been marked as "One Problem Reported" mostly because of location problems.
No one wants to walk an entire cemetery to get a picture if the person that requests won's take time to get the grave location. Once "One Problem Reported" no one wants to bother. Either there is no location added to the Memorial or possibly a wrong one.

Cornwell Line
Amazing research and great job in creating accurate and meaningful memorials. Every contributor should be so conscientious.

I have a question concerning:
Francis Marion Cornwell (Abt. 1744- Abt 1830)
Created by: Cindy Cornwell McCachern
Record added: Dec 26, 2008
Find A Grave Memorial# 32420427

Find A Grave lists two wives that overlap in lifespan. One was added by a contributor who claims to have been to a gravesite (that does not appear to exist).

Francis' will (that you posted to Find A Grave) specifically mentions a living wife "Polly" and a living son Willis.

I see the Find A Grave memorial that you created for Mary "Molley" Hanes Cornwell. Is this the Polly mentioned in the will?

Were there two wives? Simultaneously?

I suspect that the Find A Grave memorial for Mary Dean "Polly" Cornwell is a "phantom wife."

Any help?

Kind regards,

Lydia "Emma" (Atwood) Gilbert Hall
Hi there. I'm an Atwood and just submitted some edits for my 2nd great aunt Emma. Let me know if you need any documentation for the edits. My father, and many others, were born in Robinson, Marshall, and the general area. I've visited a few times and may stop in in the next week and do some visiting and research. If you've any research tips, I'd be happy to hear of them. Considering stopping at the court house and any genealogical groups in the area. Thanks, Alan

Hi Cindy,

It's been awhile since we've communicated. My interest is the Hasten family in Medsker Cem. Mary Sneed Hasten, was Peter's 4th wife -- no children, but her three children, Samuel, Maria, and Emily and from previous marriage to Calvin Sneed were enumerated in the 1870 census with Peter. I used the "Edit" tab yesterday to correct his mother to Mary. I received an email today saying it had been accepted, but checked and no change. I'm guessing there is some lag time. Also his wife's name was Minnesota "Minnie." Marriage record can be found on:

Citing this Record:
"Illinois, County Marriages, 1810-1940," database, FamilySearch ( : 3 March 2016), Samuel Sneed and Minnessota E Gunning, 1873; citing Clark, Illinois, United States, county offices, Illinois; FHL microfilm 1,306,061.

Hope this is helpful. Thanks so much for all your work.

Thomas Cornwell
I searched the entire St Johns Anglican Church Cemetery and there is no longer a headstone for Thomas Cornwell.
Please remove request.
