Dear Ancestor,

Your tombstone stands among the rest;
In this field of green.
The name and date are chiseled out
For all the world to see.

It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I'd exist,
You died long before I was born.

Yet we are of one, you and I,
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.

Dear Ancestor, the life you lived
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.

I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you.

Strangers in the Box
By Pamela A. Harazim

Come, look with me inside this drawer,
In this box I've often seen,
At the pictures, black and white,
Faces proud, still, serene.
I wish I knew the people,
These strangers in the box,
Their names and all their memories
Are lost among my socks.
I wonder what their lives were like.
How did they spend their days?
What about their special times?
I'll never know their ways.
If only someone had taken time
To tell who, what, where, when,
These faces of my heritage
Would come to life again.
Could this become the fate
Of the pictures we take today?
The faces and the memories
Someday to be tossed away?
Make time to save your pictures,
Seize the opportunity when it knocks,
Or someday you and yours could be
The strangers in the box.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"If you could see your ancestors
All standing in a row,
There might be some of them, perhaps,
You wouldn't want to know.
But, here's another question, which
Requires another view,
If you could meet your ancestors,
Would they be proud of you?"
Please unlink Jessie as the daughter of Charles George Reynolds(1897-1970). She was his wife. I added her Find A Grave # as his spouse. But she needs to be unlinked as the daughter. Many thanks, JEH
FAG for Barrett
Don and Bess Barrett were my in laws. I have left suggested edits for their FAG which include their only child, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
I know you have not been active and I am sorry for your loss. I hope we can get some more information added to their memorials.
Bess was one of 10 children. I can get you that information. Don was one of 3 boys and I can get that as well.
Thank you!
Are you adding the obits that I send you? If not, I'll stop sending.
Will you put a date on your message about your husband's health, so we know when you can come back? Thank you.
