I'm not sure how I happened upon it, but I discovered "Find A Grave" in April 2012. I am a hobby genealogist and a neophyte at that. |
In the fall of 2008, by chance, I came into possession of two family photos from the early 1900's, one from each side of our family. I have always sensed this discovery was more than coincidence, perhaps a nudge that I should pay attention to. Since then, I have found this "hobby" takes me in many directions. Branches of our family have been reacquainted and we have come to know family that we had never met.
"Find A Grave" takes me on still another path and allows me to help others with similar interests. I grew up in a Funeral Home and have always been intrigued with cemeteries. I'm fortunate to have a husband who shares my curiosity and often accompanies me on graveyard excursions.

Mr. Larson, I see you took pictures of Whitman Cemetery in Buckfield. It is a very small cemetery and less than half of the memorials have stone photos on Find-A-Grave.
My question to you is if there are any other stones visible in this cemetery than has already been photographed?

You took a picture of Thaddeus Oldham's headstone for my Find A Grave site for him. I can't make out the dates on it. If you are near the cemetery I would appreciate it if you would see if you can read the dates for me. Also, do you know if there are any records of burial for the cemetery. Thank you, Helen

Hello DJ; I am also a F.a.G. contributor. I understand the addiction of it. I have many family members buried in the oxford & Androscoggin CT's. I saw you photographed the Jackson family Cem. Rt 219, in Hartford. you have 5 lots listed. Is this all of the graves there? My GG uncle Syvander DeCoster married Austin & Nancy Jacksons daughter Abbie Helen Jackson. I thought they were buried with her parents. But you do not have them listed. Any info you can provide will help me. Paul Carver #484133850.
Thank you DJ for visiting the cemetery again and getting photos of the new memorials I set up..I noticed Katy's date of death is not on the headstone which leads me to believe she may have remarried and not even be there..have not found death info for her...Thanks Again, Wendy

Hi D. J...just wanted you to know that I found the other Wymans in the same cemetery. Not sure if they have headstones or not but a very kind lady at one of the historical societies back there confirmed it for me.
Thanks again for your help.

Hi D. J. ..I have a question..do you remember seeing anymore Wymans when you were taking photos of the Freeman Luce Wyman Family in the Wayside Cemetery in West Paris, Oxford Co., Maine? I just thought I would toss that out there..:0).I am looking for Freemans son, Perley Madison Wyman and his two wives Rose Ella and Katy. I found Perley's death Cert. and it states "Place of Burial-West Paris, Me." I cannot find him in Maine on Find A Grave but hesitate to do a Memorial for him at that cemetery until I know for sure. Thanks in Advance..Wendy
