I just retired and have been very busy with all that entails, as well as family obligations. I will be catching up on edits during the next couple of months. Thank you for your patience. (Well, it's taken longer than expected to clear the decks. When you retire, it becomes obvious to others who is the best suited to take on new responsibilities. And it's kind of hard to argue with their reasoning.)|
I started hanging out in cemeteries while doing family research. Currently, I'm focusing on Myers and Owen/Owens mostly in Callaway, Audrain and Atchison County, Missouri and Bertels in Stark and Summit County, Ohio.
When I take a photo for my memorials or as a volunteer, I usually take photos of nearby headstones and add them also. When requested and as time allows, I will also check for obits at the local library if the specific death or burial date is known. My library is happily located in the block between my job and my parking spot.
The state of Washington has a fantastic digital archive online. If you are looking in Washington, you should definitely check here: http://www.digitalarchives.wa.gov/Home.

Thank you for responding. There is a volunteer who knows a lot about Brookfield Cemetery. I will see if she can help.

Just an FYI you can get access for free thru the Massillon Public Library. Just click the genealogy tab and follow the links.

I am not related. Would you like the file transferred?
|LeeAnn Waltz||Photo Request - Helen Bertels|
I was researching to fulfill a photo request at Brookfield Cemetery and found this information. Helen Bertels is not listed in the "Cemetery Inscriptions" book as buried in the Brookfield Cemetery. She is listed in St. Barbara's Catholic Cemetery in "Anniversaries of Deaths - St. Barbara Parish 1867-1942 (small pamphlet by Church-printed in The Ohio Genealogical Society's The REPORT Spring 1982) The following stones were not located in the cemetery. (the stones may be missing, illegible, burials without stones or may possibly be buried somewhere else.
If your information indicates that she is in Brookfield, do you have more information about the Section and Row? Thank you. LeeAnn

Do you mind if I use your Find A Grave photo on my ancestry family tree? Thanks Debbie

Having just downloaded my photos from Bayview Cemetery, I noticed and Ella G. Mullen on the tombstone with Gordon Mullen and their child. He died much earlier than Ella G. Mullen. Is this the same person as Ella G. Mullen Sperry? She is in the Bayview records as being buried in that same location with Gordon and their daughter Louise Esther. Should I attach the photo of that tombstone to her page above?
