Noel and Margarette Wolfe
Hi Helen, I assume you are related to Margarette Collins Wolfe? Was wondering if you knew the exact story of what happened in Baja Mexico and the tragic car wreck in 1952? Do you have any pictures of both of them? Noel was a 3rd cousin. Thanks...Derrick

Farr at Middle Creek
I have submitted an edit to you to remove the parents shown for Betty L. Farr. Her maiden name is Lewis and she was married (and divorced) from Arnold Farr. Her husband's link has been submitted to the manager of his memorial to add. Thank you.

I had just sent a message about my husbands uncle. Never mind about turning him over to me. I found mine on here. A cousin must have went to yours instead of mine. Thank you

Not sure where you got the info of his burial but he is not buried where you posted. He is my husbands uncle and he is buried at the Walters Cemtery in Harold Ky in a family cemetery. Is there any way you could turn him over to me. I would like to add him up with all of his family.

Thank you, Angie Walters

Morrison Cemetery
Hi Helen,
It seems you have created a memorial for Mary B. Richard that is a duplicate for #82275023. This happened because someone created an extra cemetery for Morrison CHAPEL Cemetery and called it Morrison City Cemetery. There is no such place. Hopefully you can transfer over any helpful information you documented to the manager of Mary's correct memorial. This explains why there aren't any pictures loaded up for the 6 memorials created for this "City" cemetery.

Hope this will help you in documenting Mary's life.

Freight Train Kills Mead Guard In Truck
Virginia Man Was On Way To Kingsport
Locomotive Drags Veteran's Truck About 61 Feet

Gate City , Va. - (Spl.) Paul R. Dougherty, 31, Route 1, Gate City, Mead Corporation guard, was killed instantly when he was struck by a Southern Railway freight near Daniel Boone Yard about 1:35 p.m. Tuesday [ March 1, 1949 ], State Trooper C. G. Cunningham said.

Dougherty was believed crossing the tracks on a private crossing en route to his job at Kingsport . He was in a 1936-model Ford pickup truck and had been to the home of his father-in-law, W. M. Darnell, who lives within sight of the accident, near Lancaster Church , Cunningham said.

Dr. G. C. Honeycutt, Scott County coroner, pronounced Dougherty dead when he arrived at the scene. The body was removed to McConnell Funeral Home here.

-- Dragged 61 Feet --

Cunningham said the truck was dragged approximately 61 feet and was nearly demolished. Dougherty's body was hanging out of the truck, and he had suffered a crushed skull and a broken arm. The trooper said there was clear visibility of the track. The accident happened just off U. S. Routes 58 and 23.

Mead Corporation personnel said Dougherty had been with the firm almost a year. A former soldier, he served three years in the states and was a military policeman before his discharge. He was to have reported for work at Mead at 3 p.m. Tuesday.

A son of N. W. Dougherty, of Midway, he is survived by his widow, the former Emma Sue Darnell and two sons, Roger 2, and Danny 4.

-- No Witnesses --

No eyewitnesses to the accident had been reported Tuesday night. Appalachian Division headquarters of the Southern Railway office in Bristol could not supply the name of the engineer, who was reported to have stopped the train and helped to remove Dougherty's body.

They said the railroad would probably start an investigation of the accident Wednesday or earlier, but Superintendent T. R. Goode could not be reached for comment. The coal-burner freight was reported traveling toward Appalachia .

Funeral arrangements will be given by McConnell's.

Gate City . Va. --- (Spl.) Funeral for Paul R. Dougherty, 31, Mead Corporation guard who was killed Tuesday afternoon [March 1, 1949] when his truck was hit by a freight engine near Daniel Boone Yard, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Marble Point Methodist Church, near his home.

The Rev. R. W. Dillon and the Rev. C. W. Breese, a former pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in the family plot at Holston View Cemetery .

Mr. Dougherty was a World II veteran, and members of Gate City Post 65. American Legion will serve as pallbearers and will be in charge of military rites at the grave.

Hi Helen,

I've been researching this Damron family lately and have a question for you.

I have found Social Security Applications and Claims Index record (and more) that states Lilly's maiden name was Damron not Tackett, yet, it does mention at one time she was known as Tackett.

Can you help me out, as I show Lilly to be the daughter of Benjamin Harrison Damron and Ida Hopkins. It is possible, based on the record I reviewed, that she may have been married to a Tackett....??

Hmmmmm -- Here is everything I have on her.
