Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a direct descendant of the Copp, Brown, Peck, Ward, McIntyre, and Shaw families on my father's side. Roloff, Crescelius, Garbrecht, Pfersich, Zastrow, and Ziemer families from Prussia on my mother's side. I am making a special effort to photograph stones at Terre Haute Cemetery in Henderson County, IL. Many of the stones are faded and breaking off. I want to preserve them digitally before it's too late. My Peck & Shaw ancestors rest at this cemetery, so it is very important to me.

As with everyone else, if you find a relative's memorial that I have created, you can have it to manage. Just drop me a note via Find-a-Grave. I am creating memorials because I can get to these cemeteries to take the pictures. I appreciate the memorials people have made for my family members who are buried far away. Thank you, all!

RE: Rozetta Cemetery
Yes, I also saw that you had added that photo for William Bell. I dont know how I missed seeing it. Looking back at all the photos I took in the cemetery, I dont see anything in all the backgrounds that look like it either. Do you have any idea what other stones would be nearby to his?

RE: Rozetta Cemetery
Something just doesnt seem right where one cant even look at the records like the indexes and the registers. Thats what we came up against in Rock Island: theyd look up the data I wanted to document to see if they had it, but it was $5 a pop to actually look at it. Then on to Mercer county where it was 180 degrees the other way--look away! They would not, however, let me photocopy those records and of course call phones are banned (WHY???) so I spent many hours looking up information and copying it down by hand. My husband, however, was able to copy anything he wanted to next door in the recorders office.
Just sounding off, sorry!

RE: Rozetta Cemetery
Yes, Id definitely like to see that picture. We walked through the cemetery over and over and never found it. I assumed it was one of the small, unreadable stones. We went to the genealogy library at Biggsville and I copied the burials from a book there on Rozetta, but were disappointed that there seemed to be no order to the listing. We then went over to Belmont cemetery but it was almost dark and I could not see anything remotely like the Ellett stone there. Today its Mercer county and then well be leaving the area on Sunday. Spent probably 6 1/2 hours at the Aledo court house. Its been really eye-opening to see the variance in what visitors are allowed to see and what the charges are. In Rock Island we werent even allowed to see anything at all. And not being able to have ones cell phone with them....!
Again, thanks for all youve done and continue to do.

Rozetta Cemetery
We just finished looking up some folks in this cemetery (found all but one, William Bell). And then I noticed there were maybe a dozen grave stones across the road east. Do you know anything about them?

Searching in your region
Ruth,
I just wanted to let you know that we have been in the area for several days now; staying in Monmouth but moving back to Burlington to search the Henderson county records. I did get a lot of nice information in Warren county; you were spot-on in your evaluation of the genealogy library...a real treasure!
Anyway, tomorrow we'll start at the court house in Oquawka and the library at Biggsville.
