Bio and Links
Bio Photo Hello fellow gravers!

We all make mistakes and are not infallible. Be kind to others and correct gently.

Thank you to those who catch my mistakes.

I have disabled my message board and removed my email address because not everyone plays nice on FindAGrave and others do not understand how the edit system works. You are welcome to send me personal messages through any one of my memorials, but if you send me a rude message, I will ignore the message. To send me a message, go to the memorial you have information about, click on "Edit" at the upper right and then "suggest any other edit or correction." If you don't use this method of contacting me, don't tell me you can't reach me.

VIRTUAL FLOWERS ARE A TRIBUTE TO THE DECEASED. DO NOT LEAVE MESSAGES OR PUT BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION, OBITUARIES OR FAMILY TREES IN THE FLOWERS. THIS IS NOT WHAT THE FLOWERS ARE TO BE USED FOR. EVERY FLOWER THAT I FIND ON MY MEMORIALS USED FOR A PURPOSE OTHER THAN THAT STIPULATED BY FINDAGRAVE WILL BE REPORTED FOR REMOVAL.

I will process edits through the FAG edit system. Please click on the "Edit" tab and choose the appropriate link to edit. I try to check every day to process edits. I research most edits but not all, which can take me on a genealogical journey for documents, newspaper articles and family linking.

I do not link to a burial unknown, especially for people who died 50-200 years ago. Findagrave is not a family tree program and if you don't know where a person is buried, a memorial should not be put on findagrave. See the FAQs. Burial unknowns are nearly impossible to find in a search, and are a waste of your time. Please put these people in a cemetery or mention them in the bio section of their children or grandchildren.

If you have an obituary or other information you want to add to a memorial, click on "Edit" and then "suggest any other edit or correction" and put the information in the little box and send it away. If you are sending me detailed census information for all the decades, I ask that you please condense the information to basic information. I will do a copy and paste, but may condense your information if you do not. Thanks.

I add death certificates to memorials, which is allowed by findagrave policy. While it is known that not all information on death certificates or headstones may be accurate, the death certificate can tie family members together, prove parentage, burial location, alternate cemetery names and help people identify genetic causes of death. These are valuable resources to researchers and family members who are looking for additional information.

Names on death certificates are not always correct, parents are not always correct, burial locations are not always correct and dates of birth or death are not always correct. I attempt to research for accuracy of the information on available documents, headstones and newspaper articles. Nicknames or middle names were commonly used in lieu of a first name on headstones or death certificates. The best document for accuracy is a birth certificate or a family bible.

NOTE: sometimes birth dates on death certificates are incorrect because families did not always document the actual date of birth or even name the baby until several months after it was born. People were poor and illiterate, babies were malnourished and the infant mortality rate was high. If the baby survived, at a later time birth dates were guessed and that's why you may find siblings with birth dates that overlap one another. I have ancestors that have documented birth dates just a few months apart and we all know that can't be possible. :)
