RE: Mildred and Harold (children of James Samuel Bateman
Right... I use the WA Digital Archives all the time... it's a great resource. I wish Oregon had their records digitized the way WA does.

I have not been able to find a birth cert for JS and Elsie's daughter Mildred Maitland Bateman. She was born 19 Mar 1904, right before the state started maintaining birth records. Hopefully I can get to Columbia County and see if there is a record at the court house. I have a microfiche copy of my dad's birth certificate. It's interesting that his name shows as Harold, rather than James Harold. In the birth record I've found online, it appears as Harold Bateman Bateman. My dad and his twin brother were fortunately born in 1907 and I was able to find the birth index for them. His brother died at birth; there were no other children.

The Batemans I'm related to were primarily in Huntsville, Dayton, Waitsburg, and Walla Walla.

Thanks again Ann.

Hi again Ann,

I'd be glad to manage memorials for any Bateman family members. There are other unrelated Batemans in Columbia County, WA however (at least Batemans I have not been able to establish links to). Feel free to EMAIL me if you have any that you want to pass along, and I'll be glad to see if they are related.

James Samuel had a daughter, Mildred Maitland (1904-1912). She is not listed on his memorial, but I see that you have submitted an edit. Thank you.

Otis Adams, 37902336
Hello Ann,
To update you regarding my findings as to if Otis is the father of Golda Leola (Adams) Falloon, 161263050, in Portland. Answer is yes. I received a copy of the obituary for Otis, dated Sept. 10, 1936, from the Dayton Memorial Library, in Columbia County, Washington. They sent it to me via email attachment. The information listed a son and two daughters, from a previous marriage: "Ray Adams, Miss Jean Adams and Mrs. W. G. Falloon, all of Portland." I've found the son also as Roy, and Golda's husband was Wilbur John Falloon, not W. G. Falloon. The Marriage Return for Otis Adams, and his 2nd wife, showed her previous name was Cora Grace Pruitt. This was the 2nd marriage for both of them and both had been widowed. [Marriage Return date 4 May 1931, in Dayton.] Otis' obit listed step-children with the Pruitt surname. Therefore, I'm 100% sure this Otis Adams is Golda's father, and will be linking Golda to Otis. I left a public message for the Find A Grave volunteer you suggested, in Dayton, Geraldine (#46929480), but haven't heard from her.

If you would like a copy of the obituary, please email me so I know I have your correct address. Thank you for your help.

RE: Otis Adams, 37902336
Hello Ann,
I'm not a member of this family, but am just doing some research to try and join Golda to her parents. I found her mother and have linked Golda to her, but I just need to find her father, Otis Adams.

I have used "ask a librarian" in the past, and have also had good luck. I've found a library in Dayton, and am about to ask if they can help or know anyone who can. I was also going to try a Find A Grave member in Dayton, and see if they could help.

Thank you again for answering and your suggestions.

RE: Otis Adams, 37902336
Hello Ann,
Thank you for answering. I found the Washington marriage return on Ancestry, showing both Otis Adams & Cora Grace Pruitt lived in Dayton, Washington, were both widowed and this was the 2nd marriage for both. If you live in or near Dayton, do you have a copy of Otis' obit, death or funeral notice? If so, the newspaper should list his surviving family. If I knew those names, I could determine if this Otis Adams is the one I'm looking for.

Otis Adams, 37902336
Hello Ann,
I'm doing a photo project in Lincoln Memorial Park mausoleum, in Portland, Oregon. I found the crypt for Golda Leola (Adams) Falloon and created a memorial page for her, 161263050. I'm trying to find and link her to her parents. Her parents were Otis Adams and Cassie Adeline (Ogle) Adams. I found Cassie's burial location and am looking for Otis Adams.

I found a burial for an Otis Adams in Dayton, Columbia County, Washington, and the information I've found on Golda's father looks like it matches the Otis Adams whose memorial page you maintain, but I'm not 100% sure. I found the marriage for Otis and Cora, and the marriage return shows it was the 2nd marriage for both of them and they were both widowed.

Are you related and how? Do you know if his first wife was Cassie?
