Saint John the Baptist Church, Eversholt
Hello Wertypop,
We are currently doing a survey of the graves at Saint John the Baptist Church in the village of Eversholt, Bedfordshire. We see that you have previously photographed and uploaded pictures to this website. We're trying to decide whether to upload our pictures through the findagrave app to Ancestry and would be grateful for your advice as to whether you think this works well? Our email address is and the contact name is Emrys Williams. Many thanks!

Hello there, I wondered if you would be able to give me permission to use your photograph of Lieut. Sydney Frank Hale please? I am in the early stages of researching a WW1 subject, in which he features and should love to use your image - if that is possible? If you like to get in touch (my email address is on my profile), I can give you more information. Many thanks, Heather

Second Lieutenant Nicholas John Clerke
Hello Wertypop .

I am looking for Second Lieutenant Nicholas John Clerke and you have posted a picture of the edge of a grave with his name on it .

Presumably this is in Brookwood . Are you able to tell me where in Brookwood this is ?

Thank You . Wb

Checking the image it would appear that the death should be October rather than September. Grateful if you would amend. Thanks.

RE: Thomas Armstrong
I'm sorry, I didn't notice this message until today. Here is the story of how Thomas Armstrong and the other two soldiers died:

Three Sappers :- Grave number 7155, Section XIV.
On the 30th September 1917, a Gotha raid occurred over Margate and during the course of that a bomb was dropped on Cliff Terrace, three Sappers from the Royal Engineers Inland Waterways & Docks Section, stationed at the Mystery Port, Richborough, were killed. They had been on a few days leave and had missed their train back to Richborough, they were making their way to Dalby Square to report to the local military HQ. Their bodies were so badly mutilated that they were buried in a communal grave. The three were :-
Sapper J McGratty, service number 320861.
Sapper F Williams, service number 320860.
Sapper Thomas Armstrong, service number 320850.
In this raid, as well as the three Sappers, seven others were killed both local residents and other soldiers.

Eleonore Lewes, Camberley
Hello again! I have some photos of the grave of Eleonore and her husband. Would you like me to send them to you so you can chose or shall I post them? The grave cross has fallen down sadly, but with a bit of a clean the inscriptions are still readable. Let me know!
