Jesse E.Rose
As per your request, I believe you should remove all the Penn pedigree remaining on the Jesse E. Rose site – from 3rd-great grandson William James Penn through great-grandson James Penn. According to Penn biographer, Howard M. Jenkins, (The Family of William Penn: founder of Pennsylvania, ancestry and descendants, 1899 available online), there was no “William James Penn” son of William Penn, Jr., and grandson of William Penn, the Founder. The last surviving son of William Penn, Jr., and Mary Jones was named William Penn, the Third. He married Christian Forbes in 1732. Christian died in childbirth but the child, Christiana Gulielma, survived and married Peter Gaskell. Jenkins claims that “through her…all the Penn descendants of the elder line are derived.” (229) William, the Third, married again to Ann Vaux and had one son, Springett, but he died unmarried in Dublin in 1766. (237) See Jenkins’ pedigree of William Penn, the Third on p. 251.

Rhoda Penn Jenkins and her daughter, Hannah, wife of Eli E. Rose, Sr., appear to be from an unknown collateral Penn line.

I would still like to hear from Ms Weaver or Mr Cox.

Jesse E. Rose
I appreciate your desire for accuracy and your assistance in helping to get answers to my questions.

For starters, the problem with the claim that William Penn, son of William Penn, Founder of Pennsylvania, fathered an illegitimate child with a woman named Lady Jenko McPherson during his brief stay in the Philadelphia area in 1704 is the lack of proof. Unfortunately, my attempts to reach your source Vlenda Bramble via email have failed due to a “problem with the recipient’s mailbox.” Nevertheless, I should point out that while the Jenko McPherson claim is not impossible, it is highly unlikely and has been debunked for lack of verifiable evidence by genealogists familiar with the real pedigree of William Penn, the Founder.

Lack of verifiable evidence, of course, eliminates Rhoda Penn from any direct connection to William Penn, founder of Pennsylvania. In my opinion, unless and until verifiable evidence is produced you should remove the pedigree that connects Jesse Rose and Rhoda Penn Jenkins with William Penn. If you choose to leave Ms. Bramble’s Penn pedigree on the Jesse Rose site, you should at least include the genuine Penn pedigree with William Penn, “Jr’s”, wife (nee Mary Jones) and their three children (Gulielma Maria, Springette, and William) along with a caveat about Ms Bramble’s unproven and most likely bogus claim.

Regarding Jane Weaver’s claim that Eli “Eber” Rose is descended from Samuel Rose (I), Samuel Rose (II), and Charles Rose, the records I have seen indicate that Charles Rose had five children by his first wife, Sybella (Mary, Andrew, Eber, Nathan, and Francis Bodine) and three by his second wife, Ann Headley (Mary Ann, Cordelia, and Charles.)

As you can see, there is no Eli mentioned. I would like to know what proof Ms Weaver has of Eli E. Rose being the son of Charles and Sybella Rose or why his middle name would be “Eber” when Charles and Sybella already had a son by that name. Again, unfortunately, Ms. Weaver has not responded to my email request and I do not know how to contact Martin Michael Cox who apparently supplied her with information about Agnes Rose Cox. Some of the Rose information is correct and I would like to talk to Mr. Cox about it.

Are you by any chance a fellow Rose descendant?

Thank you,
David Williamson

Jesse E. Rose

I am a descendant of Eli E. Rose, Sr. and Hannah Jenkins and am interested in the source(s) of your information on Charles Rose and Sybella and Samuel Rose and Ann Duckworth as well as for Eli’s middle name “Eber”.

I am also interested in your source(s) for Jesse’s connection to William Penn, founder of Pennsylvania, through his mother, Hannah Jenkins Rose, especially regarding Lady Jenko McPherson.

Thank you,
David Williamson

RE: Otis Pratt
I have Otis's father being David Pratt Jr. b. 1783, and his mother Sophia b. ca 1785. If my records are correct, then his parents were too young for him to have been born in 1796. Also, the 1850 and 1860 census records indicate Otis was born about 1806. Are you sure the headstone doesn't day 57 yrs. 27 ds.?

Thank you skye for transferring the information on my mom to my account. That means a lot to me. I can understand why you are doing this, once you explained it to me. Guess I made a wrong assumption, thinking that any family would do this for their loved one. Appreciate having an answer back.

First off, who are you? Second, where do you get your information from?

This is my mother, she passed away 29 Jan 2017. My mother isn't even buried yet and won't be until later this summer. If I sound upset that you posted this, I am. If you are a family member, forgive me. If you are not, doesn't seem like you should be able to do this. This should be left up to the family.

My family and I have been working on our genealogy for 40 years just to find out who we are and what we are made of.

We just discovered one of her sisters who passed away in 1914 just the other day.

It makes me even more upset that you can't even give up your identity but you take it upon yourself to list information of an entire family.

I am her namesake - Mom's name is Anna Louise Svonavec Collins. I was named after her and you don't even have her name listed properly.
