What a wonderful web site to find family and also to assist others in finding their family!

I would appreciate any corrections/updates be sent to me through the Edit tab (Suggest a Correction) on the memorial. If you would like anyone of your relatives transferred to you please just let me know and I will be more than happy to transfer them to you as long as I am not related!! But, please don't ask me for an out of guideline transfer if you do not transfer out of guidelines. And, please do not ask for any transfers if you have nothing to add to the memorial and only want family links done.

Please do not post any of my photos that I've added to Find a Grave to any other web site without first asking me for permission.

Some of the families I am researching on my side of the family: Rist, Neff, Gregson, Dehn, Dixon, Reheis, Fauss, Schlemmer, Herold, Roth, Ebert, Wachtel, Proctor & Staufenbiel (mostly from Monroe & St. Clair Counties in IL).

Some of the families I'm researching on my husband's side of the family: Deason, Ray, Thompson, Griggs, Huckaba, Burton & Knox (mostly from Wayne & Lawrence Counties in TN & Texas).

Herman Hertel
Hello,

FYI, Herman Hertel, full baptismal name Carl Hermann Hartel (umlaut 'a' in Hartel), was the brother of my great-great-grandmother, Ernestine Wilhelmine Hartel who lived in Red Bud, IL from the period 1856 until about 1870 when she moved to St. Louis, MO.

From Hermann's civil war record obtained from the National Archives, it was determined that his date of death was April 3, 1868. The civil war record also confirmed his place of birth was Glauchau, Saxony, although the place of birth was grossly misspelled in the record as Glogau, Saxona.

Hermann's birthdate was 8 Jan 1831, and place of birth was: Glauchau, Zwickauer Landkreis, Sachsen, Germany. His birthdate data was from his baptismal record obtained from the Ev.-Luth. Kirchegemeinde St.Georgen of Glauchau, Saxony.

Hermann stood as a sponsor to the baptisms of my great grandfather and one of his brothers who was born in Red Bud in 1863 and this sponsorship established the relationship between my great great grandmother Hartel and him. In addition, Hermann was listed as a witness to my great great grandfather's (Johann Gottlieb Lassig) naturalization which occurred October 1, 1860 in Monroe county.

RE: Flossie (Cockrell) Bagsby
I did not intend to remove John Ervin Bagsby as the husband. I was trying to add William P Cockerel FGM# 174688832 as father and Martina Frances Durbin FGM# 85111171 as mother.

When I entered the edit on Find a Grave it would not take the edit unless I blanked the spouse.

Sorry for the confusion.

Info: We found and photographed Catherine Hempe's headstone. Beside her that we also photographed were: Henry J Hempe (1892-1944), tiny stone-J.H. (not sure if baby or row marker, John Hempe (b:3-15-1849 d:10-28-1913 and Henrietta Hempe (b: 11-22-1850 d:10-15-1884). I posted all but the small J.H. to their pages. Let me know if you want the small stone added. It had no dates nor any more info. Hope this helps you.

Wilfred Kreher
Hey Peggy,

I have a question about Wilfreid Kreher, memorial # 80804799. You show him being buried over at Bremen and show his dob 7/4/1926.

I have a Wilfried Kreher born 7/4/1927 in Paderborn; I suspect this is the same man. You mentioned in his memorial about him being divorced with 2 children.

I do not have the wife you listed, but rather I show him being married to Betty Jean Volkmann on 12 Feb 1969 in Millstadt, IL. They had 2 children, a son John James and daughter Christa Marie.

Is this the same man?

Thank you!

RE: Plot numbers for the Neffs in Waterloo
Hi Peggy,

I have the cemetery Plot maps for St. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Waterloo, Illinois, from the Monroe County Genealogical Society. I was able to look up the Neff family on the map. Anna Dietz is my relative.

Thank you for confirming the source.

Jenny
