Bio and Links
Bio Photo I hope that my entries aid you in finding your family! My PRIMARY INTENT is to get the information up from the stones & records for those that haven't found the burial spots of their loved ones and to preserve information from these stones. Please note, many are put up from cemetery is. I'm aware that there are many errors in these records, but I rarely make assumptions as to proper spelling, etc. with the exception of death month which is often based on interment date. Generally speaking, I do not research each memorial.

Any photos I have posted are gifts - free for family or friends to use as you please for non-commercial purposes. I have also assumed responsibility for many memorials from inactive/deceased contributors so just because they've been transferred to me doesn't mean they are my relatives. I would be happy to transfer any of your relative's memorials I have created that are unrelated to me. I'd prefer they be with someone in their family or someone with a connection to complete a more fitting memorial!

I'm human, I make mistakes. If you find some, please use the edit button on the memorial to advise me. Kindness & patience are virtues - I am not retired and have young children, but will address emails as soon as I can. ***I cannot guarantee edits sent to me. I accept edits as long as it doesn't change information at which time I try to confirm the information before accepting.

A special THANK YOU to those who visit my parents. I TRULY appreciate it - it means the world to me! I miss them very much. They were great parents & friends!:

✿✿~~ My beloved Parents:
My father & my hero James Robert Hoffman and my beautiful, wonderful mother Alice 'Elaine' (Cain) Hoffman~~✿✿

After 35+ years of research, I finally found:

My GG-Grandfather Gustave "Gus" Werner in May of 2012 as well as his twin baby girls and 2 more of his baby granddaughters. (thanks to FindAGrave & J F-B)

My GGG-Grandparents Joseph Newby and his wife Letitia Hastie (Dark) Newby in August of 2012 (good old fashioned research).

Another GG-Grandfather William Lewis Horn found March 6, 2013 going through old funeral home records. Cemetery records were destroyed for June 1, 1914 to October, 1920. He died June 15, 1914. Go figure! :)

My GG-Grandmother Jessie Fremont Lane Nelson in January of 2014. (thanks to a FindAGrave friend Mixmastermom)
My Family Ties:

~ My FaG Projects: ~
I'm currently working on photographing & documenting burials in (primarily) 4 Wyandotte County, KS cemeteries. ***Please note - Month is often interment month or death date may be interment date and "NOTE" is often funeral home/interment date. I am also going through old funeral home records in an effort to fill in some blanks in these old cemeteries.

*** Mount Hope - ALL memorials from cemetery records are posted.
*** Quindaro - ALL memorials from cemetery records are posted. (I used a spreadsheet on this one & many duplicates were not caught)
*** Woodlawn - ALL memorials from cemetery records are posted.
*** Oak Grove - About 98% of memorials are posted. Please note that many of the dates appear to be off a year. Be creative in your searches with spelling as well.

I also do some work in Memorial Park, Highland Park, Chapel Hill, St John's & Mt Calvary & anywhere else in the area that the wind blows me that day. :)
"There are two lasting bequests we can leave our children. One is roots. The other is wings." ~ Hodding Carter

"It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit." ~ Harry S Truman

"A Genealogist must have the patience of Job; the curiosity of a cat; the stubbornness of a mule; the eyesight of an eagle; be blessed with the luck of the Irish and have the ability and stamina of a camel to go long hours without food or drink." ~ The Herald, Vol.18, No. 3 & 4; 1995

"What is this death but a negligible accident? Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just round the corner. All is well." Unknown

Your tombstone stands among the rest;
Neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished, marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you.

RE: Weiss
Darn, I wish I would have known sooner because we were in Hebron a couple of weeks ago, but we will be going down again next month and I will keep my eye out for any. I know that you have fulfilled some of my requests which means that you are very dedicated and won't leave the memorials unattended. I've transferred in the past to people and then they won't even add the obit when I send it to them....sigh.

RE: Weiss
You are very welcome. My husband and I did most of this cemetery because no one seemed to want to do it (create memorials or take pictures) and he has a couple relatives there.

RE: Transfer Request
More puzzles Kim!

I'm struggling to place either in the records I have in my computer. That said, I have pages and pages I have not entered. If you don't mind transferring all 3 to me, that will at least prompt me to remember to research them.

I think Melie might be the mother of Charles Meyers, who shares his stone with Lucius Sillin. Both Charles and Lucius were young. Charles and his mother, Anise Belle Sillin Meyers, died at his birth and she was born in 1871. So it's possible.

Do you go out to the cemeteries often looking for stones?

Feel free to move our conversation to email. Mine is in my profile.
Thanks, Chris

RE: Transfer Request
This gets more and more complicated now that I am poking around...

Infant Linda was the daughter of my uncle Bill, who was a huge genealogy buff. Uncle Bill's records list birth as 5/3/44 and death as 5/4/44, with internment at Mount Hope. However, there is also a marker for Linda Lou Sillin at Terrace Park Cemetery in KCMO, where her parents are buried. Perhaps it's just a marker, but dates are listed as 1945, not 44.

So I don't know what's what at this point. I'll keep poking around.

There's also a mystery Sillin buried with my Great Grandparents at Memorial Park in KCKS. More fun for me!

Thank you for your contributions! Chris

RE: Transfer Request
Thank you so much! Yes, the other infant Sillin is a cousin to my father. Her given name is Linda. I should probably have requested her transfer as well so I can update her information. Didn't think of that. Do you mind?

Transfer Request
Hello. Please transfer record 104420513. He was my grandparents' first child. He died at 3 days old and my grandparents then waited another 11 years to finally become parents to my dad.

Thank you! Chris
