~ ~.ღ..``♥ THANK YOU ♥``..ღ ~ ~

So many people have said to me "don't you have better things to do with your time then drag up the past?" I tell all of you now, I do, but I don't.

My father, Duel Glen Going, was only 5 years old when he lost his father, Alonzo Stubblefield Going, to Typhoid. My grandmother, Pearl Cathern Holt-Going Phillips, then took her 4 children and moved to Oklahoma and there was very little contact between her and the "Going" family. Therefore, I never knew this family and very little was ever spoken of them.

My feelings are, in each family, someone is called to find the ancestors. To put flesh on their bones and make them live again. To tell the family story and feel that somehow the "old ones" know and approve. To me, doing genealogy is not a cold gathering of facts but, instead, breathing life into all who have gone before me.

I feel I am the story teller of the "GOING"(plus many more surnames)tribe. I feel I have been called as if it were by my genes. Those who have gone before me cry out to me: "Tell our story." So, I'm trying. In finding them, I somehow find myself.

For me, it started on a beautiful November day in the 1980's. I stood in front of my Grandfather Alonzo Going's grave in the Masonic Cemetery, Pocahontas, Randolph County, Arkansas, and asked him, and all the other family gravestones around him, "Who were you? Where did you come from? Why didn't I get to know you?" With tears streaming down both of my eyes, I looked up into a cloudless sky of blue and vowed, at that very moment in time, I would not stop until those questions were answered.

If you have time to visit one of my family members, it would be greatly appreciated.

Jackson/Byrd Family
Hope you don't mind, but I found a photo in my mom's inherited photo collection of John Thomas Jackson, with his first wife Margie Elizabeth (Byrd) and children Hazel (Jackson) Sullinger and Marvel Jackson. It must have been taken in 1907-1908 because Hazel was born in April 1907 and Marvel died in December 1908. I know Hazel died shortly after giving birth to her daughter, I have shared the photo with her daughter. Anyway, I added it to your Find-A-Grave memorial for John Jackson, Margie Byrd Jackson, Marvel Jackson, and Hazel Jackson Sullinger. Thanks, Allison Carr-Schaechtel.

RE: Taylor Cemetery
The few that you speak of are not buried in this cemetery. It is only maybe 30 feet long and 20 feet wide. I've asked my cousin's who are direct descendants of Taylor's, related to those buried in this cemetery.

This particular cemetery was owned by her grandparents Clara and Joseph, her uncles and only their family are located here. This is their family cemetery. My cousins, uncles (great uncles), and aunts (great aunts), etc are buried there.

I personally do not have any photos of my relatives buried there. Might be some at my mom's house but none that I have access to at the moment. My cousin's are in their 80's. I will ask them the next time i call them and see if they have any idea where your great grandparents might be interred.

Have a good night,

How are you related to the Taylor's. I personally don't have any photos of most of them.

Photos and Grave sites
I am trying to find a photo of Susie Patterson Holder. She married Walter Holder on June 4th 1911 in Randolph County Arkansas. I can't find anyone that has a photo of her or know where she is buried, She was my Grandfather Mack Patterson's Sister. Any thing that you could find would be greatly appreciated. I have been told that she died before 1920.

Thank You,

Rick Patterson

Minnie Elizabeth Tyler and Lehman Tyler
You have the above memorial of Lehman Tyler #145479919. He is the father to my father in law and we looked for many years for his parents, so I am amazed and want to thank you for the memorial. Someone else has Minnie's memorial. One Lehman's you have spouse listed as Minnie ? - 1933. Is there a stone at the Masonic Cemetery in Pocahonats Ark that reflects this information? Thanks Lea

Amanda Jane Holt Dennison
Curious if we have a family connection with our Amanda Jane. I still live in the area in Missouri where she settled and died and was buried. I've been there often. She is my Great Grandmother. Her daughter Jessie Dennison Parton was my Grandmother and I lived down the street from her during my childhood. The stories I have heard growing up do not match the family Amanda seems to come from in Arkansas. I am not convinced the Holt family in census records is the family she is from. I am also on Ancestry with a Parton - Dennison family tree. Any thoughts?? Thanks for any input. KSPartonScaggs
