We had been visiting cemeteries for almost 50 years.
We were mainly interested in interesting names and epitaphs.
If you would like for us to add, revise, or delete any information, feel free to contact us, and, please tell us where you live.
Just put "Find A Grave" in the subject line.
We will be happy to transfer any memorial.
I am now the Ex County Keeper for Boone and Montgomery County, Indiana.

See you have that listed as one of your interests. When I was a little girl for about 8 years until my grandmother died, we went to Wolf Creek. She told me (and he gave the property for the church) that her grandfather, Jesse Barker was buried there and even showed me where the grave was - we always left him fresh peonies. Have you EVER ran across any actual records for the cemetery or a listing any where? It took me years to discover his death date 29 August 1879 - in 1880 mortality just as August. Found a tiny obit in one of the R'ville's newspapers saying he died las t___ and that pinpointed the 29th. That was one of my goals when I began genealogy 50 years ago - still haven't found it. IF you ever run across anything on Jesse, do let me know. He had a great deal of $ / property in the 1870 census but left all his money to the youngest son who gambled and drank it all away. His son died in the poor house leaving Jesse with no stone :( Guessing the others didn't figure they were going to pay for it when he cut 'em out :( Crazy. My gpa' had a picture of old Jesse (such a handsome fella) that was on her mantle for eternity and she would talk about him to me. Teacher; farmer .... Thanks for listening and please if you ever see anything indicating he's buried at Wolf Creek, let me know. THANKS

Thank you so much for transferring those folks back to me - they're getting to be like my family - I so feel that might be my purpose to find those (I know there are many more) who died in that "poor" house and give them an eternal blessing on Find A Grave. ThANKS THANKS THANKS

I have mainly used findagrave for historical and genealogical research but because of this, I began finding many "poor" people. The original list at the Crawfordsville Library was 7 and I have now found 34 and know there are many more. So, I decided they definitely need recognition. I put them on findagrave as well as my Montgomery County INGenWeb site but I didn't know that I wouldn't have control of 'em (I have found much more on some of them but now that you have "adopted" three of them I can't add anything without your permission which seems very odd since I created the Williams twins (with hours of research- they were very hard) and Albert McNeely. Adam Rice had also adopted some and gave them right back and I so appreciated it - do hope that you will do the same and when I add (did one last night, actually) I will make sure that I adopt them. Learned a hard lesson. PLEASE give me back the three above :)

Thank you very much for the information provided on my Grandmother's page, for the pic of her headstone, and a copy of the obituary. I never knew my grandmother as she passed away 7 years before I was born. Not only is the information on her invaluable to me...so are the names and dates associated with other members of her family. Thanks again!

First I want to thank you for adding the photo of John's stone. So appreciated by those of us in the family who live out-of-state!
I also want to thank you for noting that the birth year on it was different than the one I had listed on the memorial. Your suggestion to change it brought to my attention the fact that I needed to explain the discrepancy in his bio section.
What follows is the explanation I added to the memorial:
John's stone says he was born in 1886, as does his Indiana death certificate. However, multiple records strongly suggest that this birth year is incorrect.
Social Security death records have John's birth date listed as 10 Dec 1884, and the 1900 census has it as Dec 1884. The World War I and World War II draft cards that he personally completed and signed, both have his birth date listed as 10 Dec 1884. His May 1918 marriage record gives his age as 33, which is also consistent with a birth date of 10 Dec 1884.
John was a year-and-a half older than his youngest sister, Nellie. Social Security and other records confirm that she was born on 08 May 1886. It would be impossible for John to be born the same year as her.
For these reasons, I cannot accept your suggested change, but I didn't want to do that without explanation. I won't do anything for a few days, so if you would prefer to withdraw it in the meantime, that would be fine. Please do whatever suits you best.
I do sincerely appreciate your help and hope that you will let me know any time you notice something in any of my memorials that doesn't seem right. I make plenty of mistakes and am always happy to double check.
Thanks again and best wishes!
