Bio and Links
Bio Photo My name is Elana Kahn, and I live in Boston, MA. I'm married to a wonderful man and have four adorable kids (7-year-old boy/girl twins, a 5-year-old girl, and a 2-year-old girl). I'm currently in grad school to become a Certified Nurse Midwife.

My mom was always the genealogist in the family, so she's the one I always turn to for questions, but now I'm the keeper of the electronic records (on Geni and Ancestry). Unfortunately I do not live near where my relatives are buried, so I either have to travel or have volunteers take photos. Most of my family is buried either in Rochester, NY or in and around New York City. I've been using my research skills to try and find where many of my family members are buried and so far have been somewhat successful. I still have about 50 people to locate, though.

Here are the last names that particularly interest me and the most likely place for their burial:

New York City area:

Rochester, NY:

Kobre graves in Bayside Cemetery
I volunteer at Bayside Cemetery. I took a look for Sarah and Max Kobre. Unfortunately, their monument has fallen or been pushed over. It appears that the monument has been on the ground a very long time (its sunken into the soil).
I did not post it on Find a Grave because I was not sure if you wanted it posted in this condition.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Max Milstein Mt Zion Cem NY
I was fulfilling some requests at Mt Zion. I came across your request for Max Milstein. I searched the whole society but did not come across Max. Is it possible that he is a child or infant? They usually have their own section apart from the adults. I checked but did not see one for Max. However, some of the child grave are very weathered. His stone also might be in Hebrew which I do not read.
I did find a Freida Milstein. I posted her grave photo to her site at Mt Zion,

RE: Feitleberg graves
You're very welcome! has 99% of Back River photographed and searchable on JOWBR at

Two other Fitleberg burials in Back River; one is the son of Tsvi and could be Harris' son.

Sarah Kostiner photo request
Hello, I have fufilled this request. There is a grave beside hers that is very similar in style of Rafalovitch (Gordon 1913-1989 and Beckie 1910-1992). Just wanted to make sure that these are not possibly related to Kostiner

Why are you interested in the name Rockoff. Do you have Rockoffs in your family. I am the great-grand-son of Azar Rockovitiky (Rockoff) and my grandmother was Betha Rockoff. I know a of lot of Rockoff in the NY Metro area (ie CT and NY). What is your connection?

Schoenberg family in Britton Rd Cemetery Rochester NY
Hi Elana,

Today I attempted to fulfill your open requests in this cemetery. I was unable to find the Korenstein's but the section listed is very large. I will attempt at a future date.

Yom Tov Schoenberg is burred next to Hyman and Ida and Freda is buried on the other side of them with a very similar stone to Yom Tov. I share this info as Rebecca is listed as Yom Tov's wife. She is in the same section but quite far away.

Feel free to email me with additional requests for this cemetery of the original photos

Thomas Davenport

Could you please make a few corrections on your entry for Thomas Davenport (#110134813) in Mount Auburn? First, his parents are unknown, the two that are listed is a popular entry on the Internet, but no proof has been found. Next, Mary Forth was not his wife. The Mary Forth that married Thomas Davenport in England was born in 1587, which would make her 54 years old at the time she gave birth to the first of her ten children. Quite a woman!

You are right about the stone just being a memorial. Of the five generations listed, Thomas was the only one that died in the area. Plus they all died before Mount Auburn was founded. I would appreciate if you made the above corrections. I'm starting to see people use this as a source in their family trees and the erroneous information keeps getting passed on.

Thank you,
Bill Davenport
