Hester Seymour
Hello John, I am trying to acquire proof of my lineage to Hester (Lansing) Seymour. You took a picture of the entrance to the Oakwood Cemetery and posted it on Find A Grave. Her death was in 1839, but according to the Oakwood Cemetery website, the first burial was in 1850. Can you tell me why the discrepancy or, if you are close to the cemetery, is it possible to take a picture of the tombstone? Thank you so much. I appreciate your help.

Thanks again John for a adding the stone transcription. I just added an enlargement & enhancement of the headstone to make it more readable. Computers can be great at times.Bill P.

John: Thanks for updating Henry's profile. I found his headstone under 2 to 4 inches of sod. Only a small portion had been exposed, started digging on a hunch, because this is a family plot. Bill Preston

Brainerds in Oakwood
Dear John,
Thank you very much for the original additions of these children, Helen and Halsey Brainerd as it helped us find where their mother was buried. The father died in Syracuse NY and is buried in the Oakwood Cemetery there (yes, same name) but we could never find her even though we had a note she was buried Oakwood Cemetery.
We really appreciate your thoughtfulness.
