Bio and Links
I am an amateur genealogist and have found one of the best ways for me to collect hints on my family is to walk cemeteries. I currently live in California but many of the cemeteries I have walked are in Alabama. I take pictures of all the markers in cemeteries where I find ancestors. It is simply quicker than trying to write details down in the cemetery. If you have a Biography for one of the entries I would be happy to post it as well. I am not a typist and hopefully have not made tooooo many typos but if you see one please let me know so I can fix it
I am not related to many of the people I have added; entries are posted in the interest of genealogy and history, and the hope that someone will add my lost ancestors.

I will no longer do mass transfers of everyone with a specific surname in a cemetery. I will continue to add cemetery surveys as time allows.

Please use the "Suggest a change" link on the edit tab of a memorial to suggest changes or request transfers.

Hello Eric, We have Charlotte West listed as the mother of all of LL Dewitt's children. His first marriage was to Angelina Carolina Morgan DeWitt
18101848. They were married Nov 11 1824 in Wilcox Alabama. Angelina died in 1848, shortly after Melissa Jane's birth. He married Charlotte West some time in 1850, and they had William Henry, Martha Eliza, Bryant Newton, Araminta, and Hiram Talbot. I only add small details a (edits) so I thought I would share this with you this way :) Thanks for all that you do !!

Bernice's parents, siblings, etc.
Hi Eric--Just noticed you have some errors in your posting for Bernice Beverly Pugh. Actually, she was the daughter of Preston Brooks Beverly (1854-1896) and Lelia C Bush (1864-1903). Preston was the son of Levi Stancil Beverly and Nancy Elizabeth Robison Beverly Harris Marion (9 Sept 1840-1921). Nancy's last Confederate pension check was issued on 27 Jan 1921. You might notice that Levis Beverly died in 1858, some 36 years before Bernice was born. Bernice's siblings were Morton Y Beverly (1891-1916) and Preston Herman Beverly (1893-9133) not the folks you have listed. Thanks for your attention. R Marion

1Lt. Robert Bob Scott Byrnes Killed In Action
Newlywed Killed in Vietnam A Carmichael Hero ...........Pleasure to meet you. My name First Lieutenant Robert (Bob) Byrnes Everyone has a tale to tell. Some great and some not so. mine ended like this ...........................................................
I had such a blast in high school. Before high school I went to Our Lady of the Assumption School and the new Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish then off to La Sierra High School. I enjoyed being on the Swim team, Water Polo and Archery, Cross Country and Track and Field. Coach Stan LeProtti and his physical fitness program were the best; we had great teachers at La Sierra High School. I worked at Carmichael Recreaton and Park District as a lifeguard, and Graduated from American River College I was on the water polo team there as well. I then found a job with Ma Bell (Pacific Bell) so as you know Uncle Sam needed some help I did not enlist until I received my Draft Notice in January 1965. I did the Physical Exam gig and passed and received my Orders for Reporting in Oaklande U.S. Army, June 1965, went to Fort Ord Ca., then off to Fort Sill Ok.(OCS) school . Received my LT. bars and proudly my father A.M. Byrnes and Mother pinned his LT. BARS on me what a great honor. In July 1967 I was off to Vietnam. Just before Vietnam I met my wife at the Western Drive Inn in Downtown Carmichael and we were married on my R & R in Hi. January 1968 my best man was my RTO CPL Darrel A. Bondrowski, from Boothwyn, PA we were KIA together on Feb. 9th 1968. ROBERT ( BOB ) BYRNES, 1LT, Army,

To honor the life, heroism and bravery of 1LT.Byrnes . May we never forget!
First Lieutenant Robert ( Bob ) Byrnes was assigned to Battery A, 3rd Battalion, 82nd Artillery, 196th Light Infantry Brigade. He was killed in action during a firefight while serving as a Forward Observer with Company D, 2nd Battalion, 1st Infantry. The Tet Offensive began in late January 1968 and heavy fighting continued through February. In Quang Nam Province, the 2nd Battalion, 1st Infantry, lost fourteen men near Lo Giang on 9 Feb 1968

Blassengame "Gaines" Hamilton
Blassengame's middle name doesn't appear in any documents that I have found. My father Ross Woodford Hamilton was his grandson. He believed that his middle name was Gomillion. We know for certain his initials were BG and that his first name was Blassengame. His nickname was Game.
