Bio and Links
I was born in Louisville, KY., but grew up, for the most part, in Edmonson County, KY. I have also lived in Alaska, Indiana, Ohio, South Carolina, Texas and Tennessee; but Edmonson County will always be HOME!

I married my high school sweetheart two weeks before graduating from Edmonson County High School in 1989. In 1991 we welcomed our first son. In 1993 we welcomed our second son and, a month later, moved to Cookeville, Putnam County, Tennessee, where we still live.

I started researching my family tree sometime around 2002. My oldest son had a school genealogy project that asked him to show THREE generations. At that time he had 4 grandparents, 7 great grandparents, and 1 great-great grandmother still living. Needless to say, he went past the required three generations and we just keep going from there! When my second son had to do the same project, we dug in to add what we could to the previous tree.

I do this as a hobby, when I can find spare time, and hope to eventually put it all together as a gift for my children, cousins, aunts and uncles. I keep getting "about there" and then find something else that I want to add. This is why, eight years later, I am still working on it!

If I list a memorial, that is your family member and you would like a transfer please feel free to ask for one. Just let me know that what the relationship is!

Hi Jennifer, Are you by chance connected to the Coopers buried at Smiths Chapel Cemetery in Bangham, TN.? I'm looking for Florence "Fannie" Cooper (b. about 1875). All of the other siblings found on the 1880 census appear to be buried there. Thank you!

RE: Roda Farris and Cleveland Saling
Thank You very much. That information was very helpful. I am hoping to go down there memorial day weekend and see graves I have never visited. I have had some trouble with the whole spelling issue of Edmonson Co. Salings I see spellings of Saling, Salings, Salleng and all appear to be from the same family line. Any ideals on this. Thanks again for your help.

Jennifer,

This is Donna (Ray) Warren. I couldn't believe when I saw your name on this. Small world!

I wanted to tell you that part of this information is incorrect. This Charlie (C W Ray) that is buried at Smith Chapel Cemetary in Putnam Cty., TN is not the son of Joe and Willie Ryan Ray. They are my grandparents on my father's side. They only had 2 sons. My dad, Gid S. Ray and Charlie Clyde Ray. They had one daughter that still lives.

I don't know how this could be corrected. I am also beginning to get into geneology. Isn't it great? It is amazing what you can find out. If you or anyone else sees this, and knows how to make this correction, please let me know. Thanks so much!
