Levi Lee
Levi Lee is buried in Perryville Cemetery near Elgin, Texas. His is the oldest grave in the cemetery. Levi Lee served in the 3rd Regiment (Raulston's) West Tennessee Militia at the Battle of New Orleans. He served under Captain Henry West. Colonel James Raulston was Regiment Commander under Maj. Gen. William Carroll, Division Commander. The 3rd Regiment suffered casualties 28 Dec 1814 and two fatalities at the 8 January 1815 battle. Levi Lee had previously fought at the Battle of Horseshoe Bend. Levi Lee kept a Diary over these years and his dates of events are precisely matched to historical dates of military records as researched by Henry Adams for his monumental nine-volume "A History of the United States during the Administrations of Jefferson and Madison published in 1889-1891. Levi was born 18 January 1791 in Tennessee and died 26 February 1864 in Elgin, Texas. His wife, Mary Virginia Marcus, is buried with a common tombstone next to Levi. Levi came to Texas in 1849 (assessed taxes that year in Bastrop County) from the Fayetteville, AR area. His diary says he started for Texas in 1820 but turned back. Moses Austin died in 1821 and as Levi's diary shows him visiting Austin's lead mines in Missouri, I suspect he had some indication that Austin had a grant. Anyway, more than you may want to know about Levi. It is wonderful that you have made this listing. I had no idea it was on FindAGrave. Pat Larsen, San Antonio.

Mary 'Polly' Brown Cole
Are you related to Mary Cole? If not, would you consider transferring her to me? She is my 4 x grandmother, so out of the four generation rule. I have her husband's memorial.

Thank you ahead of time.
