THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY
BY THELMA GREENE REAGAN
Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where others cried
For loved ones whose lives are stilled.
Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.
Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.
Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.
Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.
Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.
Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

WILL AND TESTAMENT

WHEN I DIE I WILL NOT END
THO MY BODY TURNS TO DUST.
I'LL TRAVEL WIDELY THROUGH THE STARS
WITH FEWER CARES, I TRUST.
SO FIND A PLACE TO LAY MY BONES
MY MUSCLE, HAIR, AND SKIN.
THEN PLANT A TREE ATOP MY CHEST
FOR LIFE TO START AGAIN.
LET HER ROOTS ENTWINE MY RIBS
AND TEAR APART MY COFFIN.
IT MATTERS NOT THE LEAST TO ME,
I'LL BE IN HER BRANCHES, LAUGHIN'.
WHEN I'VE PUNCHED MY TIME ON EARTH,
WITH NO MORE NEED OF CLOCKS,
I'LL GO TO FIND THE NEXT NEW ME.
PLANT THIS LAST ME IN A BOX.

RE: Cherokee Memorial Park
You are very welcome, Jerry!

I wanted to get a photo of his wife's headstone, but she is not buried close to him.

Would you be able to call Cherokee Memorial Park: 209 334-9613 or, send an email to: info@cherokeememorial.com and get the plot location for me?

Also, if there are other memorials that you need to be updated with plot locations/photos ... please, get in touch with the cemetery and get the information.

I love helping you out! :)

You're welcome. I'm guessing we're related somehow...my mother was an Aman. Her parents were Fred and Lydia - Just wondering what the connection is, if you're willing to share.
