Hello! My name is Pete and I live in Columbus Ohio. I've been a member of Find-A-Grave for 19+ years now. Aside from my own family research and documentation, my goal here is to try to help others locate and visit, albeit virtually, the graves of family or friends that they may otherwise never see due to geographical differences, health issues or mobility restrictions. While there is some satisfaction in fulfilling photo requests from the "bulk uploaders" and "drive-by" photo requesters of the Find-A-Grave community, the greatest gratification for me comes from being able to assist a direct family member or friend of the deceased. One who actually has a personal ancestral interest in that person, not only in death, but may have also maintained a distinction and privilege of having shared connections with them in life.I am currently doing photo requests in the central Ohio area. If you need a photo in my area, I'd be glad to attempt to fulfill your requests.For the most part, I have had fairly good luck in dealing with cemetery personnel in locating and mapping of burials. Most have been great in helping out. A few are not so pleasant to work with. I sometimes sense an attitude from them as if I am putting them out by asking them to do their job. When making a photo request, you can REALLY play a huge role in getting that picture you want faster by calling the cemetery yourself and obtaining the burial location and include it with your photo request!! By supplying the grave information, you have helped tremendously by lessening the amount of time a volunteer will have to be on the phone or at the offices of the cemetery.
