|Bio and Links|
Former volunteer, Secretary & Treasurer for the Montgomery Cemetery Rehabilitation Authority. I have spent the last nine years photographing, transcribing, seeking out records and descendants in various cemeteries. I have done all that I can, not only for this Historic Black Cemetery & her inhabitants, but many cemeteries in my area including Oakwood City Cemetery. |
BIOS AND EDITS
Wherever your information comes from, please take the time to put it in paragraph form, omitting all living persons born after 1945. The dead don't have a right to privacy but the living do & every contributor should respect that. Graphic, superfluous details, cut & paste records or obits will not be added. Information from records such as the census, markers, even birth & death should not be taken as the gospel. Estimated dates for birth will be noted in the appropriate slot when there is not a birth date on the marker.
Do not add biographical information to virtual flowers or photographs of obits to memorials I manage. Upon discovery I will ask the contributor first to remove them. After a period of time I will forward them to Findagrave Support for removal. You don't leave biographical information in flowers at an actual graveside or cemetery & you shouldn't do it here.
Do not add another similar shot of a marker to any memorial unless yours is significantly better. There are a lot of contributors to this website, while I am not perfect & make mistakes don't assume I am the source of erroneous or conflicting information which will always be noted in the appropriate section. IMHO, the greatest evolution of Findagrave are the family links. 🔗🔗🔗
All of this is covered in the guidelines established by Find a Grave & I shouldn't even have to reiterate it here. 📖 For the record, even if you didn't agree with them, you did agree to abide by them when you created an account with Find A Grave.
Mary Louisa Portis holds a special place in my heart. The remarkable story of her marble ledger solidified my belief that preserving the history that lies in our cemeteries is vitally important & reaffirming my love for bone yards, the stories they have to tell & the enormous peace that can be found there.
My photos are for your personal use only. If you wish to use mine or anyone else's anywhere just ask & credit the photographer because there are some incredibly good ones here. 📸🔎🚗 A sincere shout out to those who beat the bushes photographing markers on my behalf.
