PLEASE! message me if you want a copy of the pictures I have posted on this site. I only document my relatives unless otherwise stated and so if you want them, you must be a relative as well and I'd like to connect with you. I have seen them just copied and taken; and I would prefer to be listed as the source, as I have done the legwork, research, travel time and gas money to get them. Thank you for your respect on this matter~|
Your tombstone stands among the rest,
Neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out,
On polished, marble stone.
It reaches out to all who care,
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist,
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you,
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse,
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled,
One hundred years ago,
Spreads out among the ones you left,
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved.
I wonder if you knew,
That someday I would find this spot,
and come to visit you.
I've been interested in my ancestry all my life, but I finally started doing something about it in May 2012.
I've discovered some amazing things and appreciate how others work have helped me, so I hope I can help others too.
I wish I had my relatives around to ask them questions and get their memories. Don't wait until it's too late like I did.
Located in Neenah, WI.

|Willemssen #48832678||Evergreen I|
Hi-- I assume you are talking about the photo of the plot map/index on the caretaker's house in the middle of Evergreen I? Thanks, but I will say that I wish I would have taken a closer set of photos of the indexes AND the map so it could be useful from a far!!! The index was completed in 1994 and seems fairly comprehensive (I have some family members that were missed, but...waaaaay better than nothing.). Next time I get up there I will try to take closer photos and see if admin will allow me to add it to the cemetery's main page. It is a NICELY done index. You need to open it up on your own. It is on the east side of the caretakers cottage and there is only one cottage in the cemetery that I recall. It, the index, seems to be available year round. I have never found it to be locked or inaccessible. Also note, it includes ONLY Evergreen I, it does not include Holy Rosary, the Catholic cemetery on the east end of Evergreen.
Note: there is a Taylor County index to Evergreen Cemetery done by a local genealogical society. I've found it at both Marshfield Public Library and Wausau's main library. It is probably in other places. The PROBLEM is that the group doing it didn't seem to realize or care or ? that Holy Rosary Cemetery was there at the east end and they just merged the two cemeteries. They also didn't seem to realize that there was already a organization method at the two cemeteries, one for each, so they created their own organizational system. If you use their index you need to keep track of their organizational plan because what is at the cemeteries will not match. If you know the problems with their index, you can generally sort the two cemeteries and find people.
|Rebekah McAleese||RE: Name Correction|
I have been doing some work at the Marathon Co. Historical Society and the book is there. So in my down time there I have been entering information from the book. I am not sure if there are any others as at this time I am still working through the book.
Parts are laid out like a map, but most of the book is copies of the Burial Permits that were issued by the county. Most have the funeral home that handled so I was trying to include that information so that if someone is looking for more information they would know who to contact.
I am not related to anyone, just helping out others that may be looking as I need the assistance in other states where my relatives are from. So it is kinda of a "pay it forward" that I am doing.
I am hoping to get back over there this next week and get some more entered in.
