Chester Randall
Do you have any family connection to the Randall family? My g.g. grandmother was Margaret Gallion, Chester's mother. Any information you are willing to share would be great! Thank you in advance!

Charles Conway - Find A Grave # 132412807
Michael,

You have a memorial in Find A Grave for Charles Conway, married to Marie White. A Conway did indeed die in St. Clair's defeat at what was afterwards name Ft. Recovery by General Anthony Wayne.

Charles Conway (a son) and Elizabeth Robertson are my 3rd great-grandparents. Charles' supposed father Charles Conway and his supposed mother Marie White have never been substantiated. My dad had Charles and Marie in his genealogy but had NO evidence or knowledge regarding that relationship.

My research into St. Clair's defeat where Charles the son's father died shows a Conway, but he survived the battle and his name was not Charles. Furthermore, the History of Randolph County Indiana where Charles the son was the first county clerk, serving for 21 years, is the only place we learn that his father died in St. Clair's defeat. Unfortunately, it does not name his parents. It does indicate that Charles and his mother went to Tennessee after the death of the senior Conway.

Another suspicious piece of data in all this is that there is a Charles Conway and Marie White who marry in Indiana, but they are much younger than either Charles or his father "Charles" would have been. This may have been the source of the original error by my dad back in the days prior to PCs and the Internet.

So, what I am saying is don't hang your hat on Charles Conway and Marie White being the right people you have in your memorial. Nor are they Charles Conway's parents. Your Find A Grave memorial is therefore suspect and could mislead others.

I would recommend you drop this particular memorial at this point until we can find some proof. The evidence so far seems to be pointing in a different direction. I was the initial submitter of Charles Conway and Marie White. I no longer believe it is a correct relationship. There is no evidence suggesting the elder Conway was named Charles nor that his wife was Marie.

Burials at Fort Recovery Monument Park
My DAR group are searching for names of soldiers in the 1st Regiment of Levies that fought with the troops from Washing, Sullivan, Greene and Hawkinss counties, TN. We have the roll of Capt. Jacob Tipton - buried there but few other names.
Of the enlisted men in the memorials on your find a grave page, is there any mention at the park? We know the officers are noted but are looking for the enlisted.
We are planning a memorial to them this Sept 17th.
WE realize this will be an ongoing research effort but any help is welcomed.
What documents verify the buried?
Thank you for all your work on this site.

and merge if necessary.

I am very interested in this family and am looking for my connection to it.

I am doing my work over at wikitree and trying to put together a good list of sources.

I have a great grandmother named Mary Matilda Roberson and she is a brick wall for me.

She does have DNA connection to the Greer families as well.

Thanks in advance.
