Hello, and welcome to my page. I am a Kister by birth, I live in Virginia, with my Husband & a granddaughter that we are raising.|
We have two daughters and a total of 4 granddaughters and 1 grandson.
I have lived in Utah, Idaho, California, Washington, Oregon, Alabama and Virginia. We have settled and will stay put here in the Appalachian Mountains, it is just wonderful here.
I discovered the fascinating world of Genealogy and have been researching family history since 1995.
My family on my father's side is originally from Walter & Frank, Saratov, Russia. I am part of the second generation born in the States.
On my father's side of the family, I am interested in the Sir names of Kister, Kaufmann, Babcock, Widup, Macbeth, Gettman.
On my mother's side of the family are Wright, Sweet, Jones, Brady, Cox; Hale; Paulson.
Hubby's side is Morris, Elam, Lightfoot, Coffey, Jeffrey, Koehl.
For other family memebers I'm searching Worley, Barnett, Chaney, Smith, LaMon, Umstead, Cho, Iliff, & Galardo.
When I found the Findagrave.com web site, I realized I had to be a part of it all. We actually find graves as a family hobby, we all participate, it's great!
My hubby is interested in the Revolution and Civil wars.
I like to search and add names in local grave yards that are not presently on the database, and finding old obits on the net that hasn't been added as yet.
If anyone finds info that I have submitted wrong, please bring it to my attention and I will correct it right away. Comments and suggestions are welcome. If you can suggest changes or additions to any memorial that I've posted, please don't hesitate to let me know.
If you see a family member or loved one, and wish to have ownership, please don't hesitate to ask.
Your's in grave finding, Barbie :)

|Cindy Elschide||William David Sallee|
William David Sallee is in my family tree. He is my Maternal 5th Great Uncle....his and his wife Sarah were the first graves I found when researching my family in Oakland...
Thank you so much for transferring him to my care.

I am looking for two great great uncles and a great great aunt. I suspect this maybe be one of the uncles. His name was John Hodge and the time frame seems to be the same. I am also looking for a William and Okie. Are you near this cemetery to take photos? The parents were Johnson Major Hodge and Margaret Furguson Hodge. The 9 other siblings moved along to York County PA.

In this memorial you mention that the deceased's father was J. H. Scarff. I'm trying to find relatives of W. D. C. Scarff who was born in Virginia in 1796.
Could you tell me where you got the information about J. H. Scarff? I am stuck with W. D. C. and can't find his parents.
Thanks for any help and thanks for your research and work.

|John C. Mahaffey||Mahaffey Tablet, Abingdon VA|
Thanks for all you do on Find A Grave.com! I found the your grave records for a group of my ancestors (Mahaffey) at the Green Springs Presbyterian Church in Abingdon, VA. There are 7-8 names on the tablet. Do you believe there were, at one time, individual graves for these people, but they disappeared over time? I have written the church several times but they do not answer. Reading the tablet inscription, I get the impression the actual remains are not present at this location. Your thoughts would be appreciated!

First, Thank You in all you do on Find A Grave in helping me and others in your area. This time of year, it must be beautiful with Autumn 🍂 arriving.
I have discovered on Ancestry and Family Trees including even on death certificates, the name JONAS is listed mistranscribed but closer read it is Jonas.
Wife of James Groseclose. Should be Jonas not James

Their son, F. S. Groclose is interred in same cemetery.
It is highly possible, their daughter, Frances Elizabeth Groclose Widener/ Widner died 1896 is interred in same cemetery too. I hope so! She married John A Widener having two children.
I have located their other children memorial's on find a grave, will ask to get those linked.
Again, I thank you.

|Marilyn Clark||RE: Re: Aubrey M Clark|
Can you tell me what ownership entails? Thank you for what you do.
|V. Case Ford||RE: Re: Laura or John Stanley|
I got involved with the Stanley family in fulfilling the photo request for Robert Lee Stanley. I have no family ties to them, sorry.
So, in the Baptist Cem in Glad Springs you can't find John's grave?
Our "TNGENWEB" here in TN has surveyed cemeteries by county and listed each grave marker. Some counties are better covered than others, e.g. Sullivan and Washington counties are pretty complete. Does Virginia have such a compilation? Or is there a cemetery book in the genealogy section of the library near Glade Springs that lists the graves? I am always more confident in searching the cemetery if I have some evidence that they are buried there. Of course you have the DC.
