Alright everyone, let's play NICE. Kindness and civility are standards we should all strive for. We are all volunteers here. As we all know, LIFE is too short to be petty and cruel. "Holy-er than thou" attitudes are tedious and boring; nobody's perfect. Let's all "lighten up".

UPDATE 2021:
Some people need to get over themselves. Having expectations of an immediate response to a request or an edit ...unbelievable. We are volunteers here with lives and responsibilities. Medical issues, family obligations, employment priories, patience is a VERY admirable character trait. Instead of getting all "Holy-er than thou", send another message; "Did you get my message" or delete the original by accident? (I've done that; not everyone is computer experienced). "You catch more flies with honey than vinegar". Please, be patient with others. There's enough unpleasantness out in the world right now, let's not add to it.

Walking in a cemetery is lovely experience. There is a beauty, a calmness that's difficult to explain. When I was younger, I didn't quite understand the attraction. Now I walk, and wonder, and marvel at the workmanship of the "stones". I weep for the infants who died too soon. I smile at the people who lived long lives to see buggy's give way to automobiles and jetliners; the history they lived through. I'm proud to see our Military Veterans given Honor for their service and sacrifice; also their spouses for they served as well.

When I first discovered this site, I was looking for a relative in a very old cemetery that did not have a map (or an office) to show me where they were. I was having trouble finding them & I didn't have much time left to find them. A photo that had been added to this site helped me find them. The photo showed a large upright stone with a family name next to my great grandmother's flat, partially covered marker. After a second day of looking, I found her; I found her because of the photo. I was so grateful I decided to join and help others have the same success.
I have walked and photographed St. Joseph, St. Mary's, Mt. Hawley and others in Peoria Co. IL. I do not claim to take the best photos. I try to take shots that are clear, complete, reflection free; basically the best I can take. I invite everyone to add photos that are in focus to clearly show names and dates. To add photos that you feel are better than the ones I have added; let me know & I will delete mine. When I add photos it's because I feel the one I have are better focus or better light, etc. To show you is better than telling you about them (I believe). When asked, I have (and will) deleted photos.
I am not trying to have the most memorial or the most photos added. I would like to help create the best looking and most accurate pages possible for people to find their relatives. Isn't that why this site exists.
