My strategy for researching is to find as much documentation as possible about all of my ancestors' brothers, sisters, and in-laws in order to find clues about migrations and adoptions when the records are sparse. |
I strongly believe in providing family links, adding maiden names, and removing duplicate memorials. Please send me additions and corrections.
Please name the photographer and date of the photograph anywhere you use these photos; you are welcome to post them or share them anywhere. (These are basic requirements when using headstones are evidence, and it's a sign of thankfulness.)
Please assume good intentions, and please be polite.

From the 1855 NY census, right under Thomas S. Moon, a Mary Moon is listed as a child of Almon Moon. I think she must be Mary Deibler, the daughter of William and Esther Deibler and TS Moon's wife.
Esther Deibler, the grandmother, is age 59 in 1865 and she is with Mary A...and I think her middle name is Adell...At any rate, Esther Moon Sr. is 59, her daughter Esther (soon to be Mrs Judson Bowen) is 19 and single and the little Mary A. Moon is age 10.
In 1855, Mary's brothers Orville and LeRoy are listed as well, and they list her name as Adell, and that's why I suspect it's her middle name.
Hope this all makes sense. Without the obituary of Mary A. Bowen, it would be a near impossible search.

Hi, I'm writing regarding the above...your # 62072089 I think I know at least the surname of his first wife. He had a daughter (# 108672866, Mary A. Moon --Married George H. Bowen) that went to live with her grandmother at age 2 when her mother died. I was studying Mrs. Judson Bowen, her aunt whose maiden name was Esther M. Deibler.
The obituary claims Mary Moon lived with her grandmother (Mrs. Deibler) and then with her aunt, Esther (Deibler) Bowen (Mrs. Judson Bowen). At any rate, if you want to look at the obituary I posted on Mary's site. Maybe it might give you a clue as to where to look. #108672866

Thank you for the flower on my 6th great uncle.
I had previously set up Samuel Gardner's memorial and hope you have taken the dna test and we can correspond thru my personal e-mail and determine our common ancestor.

Thanks for the additional information! I've added it to Samuel's memorial page.

The entry states he was born in Ireland. What is your source for that? He's a 5x or 6x grandfather to me and I've always been interested in the Ireland connection. Thanks for any information.

Find A Grave #93297633, you have her as the daughter of Harvey and Anna Bissell Snow.
Harvey and Anna are my Great Grandparents and I have no documentation or any information on Mary Elizabeth. She would have been my Grandmother Emma Snow Richards Mullen's sister. My Grandmother never spoke of a sister, only of her brothers. The family was divided up with Anna died, the boys went with the Snow's and Gram went with the Bisselles.
Could you site your source on this?

Ah, good, glad it helps her. I know that "Mandy"Jane's marriage announcement was carried in the Houston Herald in 1885 and have a copy of the clipping.
I am descended from her older brother. Feel free to pass along my email address if she wishes to collaborate directly on research, or you can pass along her questions to me and I will do what I can to answer.
Thank you so much for the transfers.
