Bio and Links
Bio Photo Lately I've been a little obsessed with adding names to the Washburn Street Cemetery in Scranton, Pennsylvania. I've found several ancestors buried there and then I read about the cemetery, I just couldn't help but want to add to it.
(I'm adding this info based on both Death Certificates and obituaries.)

PS - I sort of hate the fact that Davis and Davies are so interchangeable! It's annoying.

I lost my beautiful Boo, my heart is broken.

I live in Colorado and I'm very interested in family history. The whole reason I joined here was to find my ancestors. I love going to cemeteries and taking pictures. Many of my contributions are based off the photographs I take at these cemeteries.

Sometimes I have trouble reading the dates in the pictures - if you can help me you can click the Edit tab at the top and send me a message. I want to get it right! I like linking family members and adding any info you may have for me. :D

I'm more than happy to transfer memorials to family members!

The one nearest and dearest to my heart, my daddy, was the reason I joined. You can always stop by and leave flowers. <3

I helped Beth in Colorado to add all the folks in Lakeside Cemetery in Canon City. It took months, wasn't easy, but it was worth it!

My main interest names are:
Clemmons
Whisler
White
Birkes
Shaffer
Wharton
Akers
Powers
Mincher
Simmons
Sanders

A note about my photos - any headstone photos that I took, you have my permission to use on Ancestry or even your own family history pages, all I ask is that you note that I(Courtney Birkes) took the photo. Thank you :)

Ann Williams Holley
Dear Courtney:

Thank you so much for entering this family member into Find-A-Grave! I appreciate the memorial site you've created, and I would like to maintain it if possible. Would you please transfer management of Ann's site to me? As you can see, I've already sponsored her memorial, and I would love to go further.

Thank you for your consideration.

Kind regards,

genealogygirl #48466168

Thanks for the updated material. If these folks are your relatives, I would be happy to transfer their memorials to you. They are not related to me in any way.

John William Elliott #114039077
Hi Courtney

Would you be willing to transfer the management of the grave of John William Elliott? I am his gr gr granddaughter and I am trying to get all the Elliott family tied together on Find a Grave. I would really appreciate it. I would like to see a photo of his grave as I never recall seeing one. I live in La Junta and am trying to talk my husband into driving to Canon City to the cemetery so I can take a picture. I am also looking for info on his son, John William Elliott "Willie." Cannot find much info on him on Ancestry and cannot locate a grave or even a death date or place of death.

Thank you so much

Harriet Harris
Hi Courtney,

I was going to ask you if you could give me the location of Harriet Harris Jones, my great grandmother. But I see lots of mention that you do your listings from Death certificates. I can not find one for Harriet's husband, David A. Jones, so I guess that's why he isn't listed. I have walked the cemetery at least once and have not found their stone. If you'd like, I'll take over Harriet's memorial. I just posted a picture of her.

I have left quite a bit of info for Homer. He was my Mother's father. Was there no headstone when you were there? Thank you for this and all your other entries, I only found it today.

Courtney, Thank you so much for the transfers of our 3 family members. You have no idea how much it is appreciated. I have looked at some of the memorials you have set up other than mine and I wanted to say thank you for all the hard work.

Memorial #141006183
Hi Courtney.
I am looking for info on my great grandparents.
Benjamin Walters and Mary Ann Walters Mem #
141006183. I know they were buried at Wasburn as I have the Permit for Benjamin but have not been able to get any other info as to where the plot is.
Can you tell me how you came to finding the Walter were buried at Washburn and maybe this would open up an avenue for me to follow. We have hit a brick wall.
I would be grateful for any help.
Thank you
Gail Schlemmer
