I am a southern Pennsylvania resident and have been doing genealogy for more than 20 years, primarily on my mother's family. Her maiden name was Comer and she was born in Grayson County, VA. My sister, Linda, and her daughter, Shari, help me by taking many of the photos of the grave markers/stones and adding them to this website. They are a tremendous help to me. |
If you would like for me to transfer to you any of your kinfolk that I have entered, please click the "EDIT" tab at the top of the memorial, then click "Suggest a Correction, etc." and, after entering your request, click "SEND". Find-A-Grave will then automatically email me with the memorial number you requested and your contributor number included. It is not necessary for you to type those numbers in if you use the EDIT tab. BTW, I am not too fussy or nitpicky about your relationship to the person you request since it's hard for me to fathom that you would want to manage the memorial of a person who is not related to you. I would like to think that your intentions are good and honest. So, with that said, I would be happy to transfer anyone as long as I am not related to him/her/it also.
Incidentally, please do not send the names of children to be posted to the bio of a memorial. It creates an additional burden that is difficult to keep up with. I will, however, link any family members if I am able to.
Also, most of the memorials I create are from the individual's death certificate. I post only the basic data that I find to include the person's full name, full birth/death dates, where born and where died, the name of the spouse(s) and the cause of death, primarily if it's accidental. I realize the info is not always accurate but at least it's a start. I will not post the death certificate to the memorial since I consider them to be relatively private and personal. Besides, I asked myself if I would want mine posted after my demise and I decided that I would not since I have no control over what goes on it or by whom. There are often words and descriptions on the forms that I'm sure the survivors would not desire to have publicized.
Btw, I have found that the DEATH dates listed on the certificates are generally very accurate and if they're off, it's usually only by a day or two. More often, the grave marker is in error when there is a conflict with the death certificate.

Oh man. You still should have let them merge. Your memorial may have been newer, but it was the nicest. :(

Dear Rich Kreiss,
I just wanted to thank you so much for the Prospect Hill Cemetery of York, PA burial information of George W Strine #173325827.
I never had access to a death certificate so I had no idea where he was buried.
Thank you so much for your help!

Thanks so much for his transfer!!

Thanks for pointing out the correct date of death. I am amazed how often the headstones are in error. I'll add a note to her memorial indicating the headstone has the wrong date of death.
Take Care, Laura

Thank You for adding Elwood. He would have been my grandmother's older half brother. I seen you recently added this. Which I thought was funny because I just started looking through find a grave. I am assuming that his marker is the one that is unintelligible beside his mother Mertha who is my biological great grandmother.

Thanks for transferring him to my care. You are doing a wonderful job. Hope I can too.
