Hi,

Since 2009 I have been working on preserving the Greenwood Cemetery. I started out taking care of a few family members there and then found more and more. I am related somehow to almost 1/2 of the cemetery.

I have been going through the cemetery stone by stone trying to physically place all the graves. I'm also trying to add names to the stones that are unreadable, which is very very hard! Sometimes I find a stone which just says mother or father even

I have been going through obituaries, church records, cemetery books, county birth records, funeral home records, and death records just trying to make sure every one is found and taken care of.

If you are within the FAG guidelines I will GLADLY transfer too.

The Greenwood cemetery is done. There maybe the occasional found ancestor in the obits or death certs, but all the photos (Except for recent burials like 2013 to 1016) have been taken of every stone I could find.

FAG Rules Regarding Submitting Information / Creating Memorials

Can I add an obituary to my interment listing?

Please do NOT add photographs from obituary notices (unless you, personally took the photo), as they are protected by copyright law. Find A Grave reserves the right to remove obituary notices and photographs from memorial records. Similarly, you may NOT scan an obituary and add it as a photograph to a memorial record.

FAG Rules regarding duplicates:

** If you find a memorial has been added but has incomplete or incorrect information, instead of creating a duplicate memorial you should use the tools provided to submit corrections, additions or a transfer request via the "Suggest A Correction" link under the 'Edit' tab on the upper right of the memorial. YOU SHOULD NEVER DELIBERATELY CREATE A DUPLICATE MEMORIAL.

FAG guidelines regarding photos:

** Not obtaining permission before using others photos is a violation of copyright law and is against Find A Grave policy.

I found a photo of a relative on Find A Grave, can I use it?

Photos posted to memorials on Find A Grave are copyrighted by the member who submitted the photos. Lifting the photo to use elsewhere would be a violation of copyright. You must obtain written permission from the member to use any photo for your own use. In general if you did not take the photo yourself, you do not hold the copyright to the photo.

ALSO

"I don't want to submit my information and then see it for sale here or on another site. Will Find A Grave always remain a free site?

Find A Grave has been around for over ten years. Our stated goal has always been to remain a free site for everyone. We have no plans on changing that. Additionally, we claim no copyright or 'ownership' of any photos that are posted to Find A Grave. THEY REMAIN YOUR PROPERTY. If we were to turn evil and start charging people to view YOUR photos against your wishes, you would have every LEGAL RIGHT to demand that we remove them. But we're not planning on turning evil, so it shouldn't be an issue."

---------

Please Do not copy, or post to any website, any of the pictures that I've added to Find-a-Grave Memorials without getting my permission first thank you.

Thank you.

RE: Clement Hickey
I have found two obits for Clement Hickey one has him buried in St. John Cemetery and the other has him buried in Fairview Cemetery. I have found no record of him buried in St. John cemetery other than the one newspaper clipping. The cemetery office and the BCGS don't have records of him. His wife and daughter to the first marriage are buried in St. John's. I have not been able to find info on his second marriage other than the mention of it in the second obit I found. I can email these to you if you would like.

Do you have any records that show him buried in St. John's cemetery or were you going from the one obit. He has me puzzled. Any help is appreciated.

Thank you for your kind expression of sympathy. We buried Mother in Calvary in Altoona this past Monday. She wanted to be home in her beloved mountains with her parents and brother and sister.

Clara May Norris Thompson - Find A Grave Memorial# 53997682
I've come across what appears to be the PA death certificate for Clara May Norris Thompson - Find A Grave Memorial# 53997682l It gives a DOB of 9 Nov 1875 and DOD of 13 Apr 1952.

This correlates to your info. 15 Apr 1952 is the date that her death notice appeared in the Altoona Mirror, so that's probably where you came up with that.

I can send / link you a copy of the certificate if you wish.

Thank you for all of your work on Greenwood Cem.

RE: Artemesia
Thank you,

I did not want to come across as rude in any way and I totally know what you mean by others wanting what they want and they want it now. We are certainly due some respect for starting the memorial, and I can see that you would not want to give it to a stranger when a family member might request it later.

I will treat Arda's memorial well and if any of her family comes along and wants her memorial transferred to them, I will absolutely give it to them.

Thank you for the transfer.

RE: Artemesia
Actually, they do not have an account. If they did, they would just transfer it to me anyway. I am the one that does all the work for their family.

If you look at the memorials in my account, you will see that unlike most people, I do not just add names and dates. I work it in a way to give the most information, in an interesting and factual way and photos as well.

I am not being crabby when I say the rest of this to you, I just truly do not understand why a person would not transfer if someone was willing to do the work; family or not.

There is no rule that says a friend or stranger cannot create or maintain a memorial, but I see that many folks who create them feel possessive of them. Arda is not your relative, but you created her memorial.

I didn't lie to you and say I was family, but I could have.

If you feel like any memorial should be yours, I can live with that. It just will never get the care that I would give it because you don't know the people in this family and/or their stories. Nor do you have possession of their photos. I do.

I truly don't understand anyone's desire to keep a memorial if someone else wants it. I have created many memorials for people I didn't even know because I accidentally ran across someone during my research who didn't have one and I had found a lot of info that should not be lost. But anyone who requests a memorial from me gets it unless they are my own close immediate family.

Thanks for the work that you did.

RE: Artemesia
Actually, I am not related to her. She was the favorite aunt of a friend of mine. I helped them with their Ancestry.com tree and whenever I found a memorial that had been started for one of their relatives, I added to it when I could. I have some more pictures of her and added one more today. I wish they would let more than 5 pix without sponsoring, because I have more, but someone has to pay the bills. Nothing can be all the way free.

Thank you for starting Arda's memorial. When I do her bio, I will send it to you or ask for a transfer.
