Avid ancestry.com researcher, I live in Ventura, CA and will be willing to get pictures of gravestones in the Ventura county area.|
Please feel free to use any photos I upload. They are not art, they are YOUR friends and relatives. Please use the information and photos as you see fit. ~ judi
St. Mary's Cemetery aka Cemetery Memorial Park aka Cemetery Park in Ventura, CA is my main focus. I am entering the city burial list information, which states "Burial Date", not date of death. The dates will be close, and as family members step forward I will transfer relatives when requested, or change information as research shows correct dates or names. The city records have been transcribed from two different sources, and I have found errors as I am working on the entries.
Original headstones were removed in 1964. Some were claimed by family members. Some were moved to other cemeteries. Majority of interred remain in place without any markings. The city has a replacement plan for markers requested by family. A few of these replacement markers currently dot the park landscape.

Just wanted to let you know that all the SEXTON(s) you have buried at Cemetery Park are most likely at Ivy Lawn since they appear to have stones there.

She may be. I am working my way though my family lists and haven't gotten to the Comstocks yet. I am still in the B's. As I find them, I will post. Thanks for maintaining these records.

Hi, Judi my name is Karen (Keeran) Yauney. Melcena my 1x's Great Grandmother on my fathers side. According to my research she passed Jan 18, 1958 there in Ventura. I cannot find out any information of her burial an I was wondering if you have ever run across her name or to where she is buried. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Hope to hear from you soon

Just wanted to thank you so much for the transfer of the Barbara Bennett memorial. I've already added pictures, an obituary, updated name and B & D info, and installed the linkage to husband Manuel, parents, and brothers & sisters. I'll next be working edits to link her 6 children, then their children and so on.
Also, yes I am aware of Manuel's reburial at Santa Barbara, and have tried for years to locate and photograph the grave without success - but I haven't given up as yet. Meanwhile, I'll submit a few edits to you for his memorial.
Thanks again Judi, this is one that I've wanted to work on for quite some time - I hope you like my updates.

|Janis Babb||RITA SOFIA SCHNEIDER OVERMAN|
Hi Judy, I am researching Clarence Alonzo Overman and am seeing a lot of researchers but little proof of marriage and childrens births. Do you have any info you can give me? Was he married to this Rita Sofia Schneider? I notices flowers left at Clarences' grave and you called him pops. Any real connection? I have found 6 births of children to a Clarence and Rita in North Carolina. Any help you can share would be great. Thanks,
Janis Webb Babb

Yeah, there are probably quite a few Lawrence's in the cemetery. Although the W initial could be an error, I doubt it because to me it also looks like a W in the interment records, as well as on the gravestone.
The 3 places to look for Mt Hope Cemetery, besides Find a Grave itself, are the interment records (http://rbscp.lib.rochester.edu/mthope/search), the plot maps (http://crpc.nyrgs.org/), and the survey of surviving legible gravestones (http://mcnygenealogy.com/cem/mh-intro.htm).
Daryl VerStreate, who made that Find a Grave memorial for Charles W Lawrence et al., used the Mt Hope Interment Records to create memorials for practically everyone who died through 1892. So usually if they are in those records and died before then, they will be in Find-a-Grave. (There are some exceptions, but they seem to be almost exclusively people whose last name starts with B, for some reason.)
However, if they died after 1892, then it is more likely than not that they will NOT yet have a memorial created on Find-a-Grave.
