Bio Photo 06 September 2016 - I am trying to get caught up on all of the corrections that have been sent to me. I am very far behind. I have been approving the automated edits regularly, but anything that needs to be manually done has fallen behind. My apologies to everyone. I'm working to get them done as quickly as possible.

Please use the editing process to submit corrections. It makes life so much easier for everyone involved!

I have been infatuated with cemeteries since I was a little girl, so it makes sense that I would be drawn to genealogy as an adult. I am very fortunate that my job takes me all over the place so that I can visit the final resting place of generations of my relatives. It also allows me to take photos or do transcriptions in various cemeteries throughout the country even if I do not personally have family members buried there.

Doing cemetery transcriptions is a labor of love. It requires a lot of hard work and sweat, and sometimes a lot of bug repellent, but I think it's one of the greatest hobbies around. I feel it is very important to document the final resting place of those gone before us so that others can know where their family members are buried. It is also important to preserve some of the older cemeteries before all is lost due to climate and/or lack of upkeep.

I am trying to obtain death certificates for those buried in the following Houston County, Alabama Cemeteries - Ramah, Cottonwood City, and Union Hill. I have hundreds of death certificates for those buried in these cemeteries as well as other cemeteries in Houston County (if I happen to stumble upon them as I am looking through the microfilm.) I am slowly getting them loaded onto their FindAGrave memorials. If I have a note on a memorial about a cause of death, that means I have the death certificate. Send me an "edit" and I will be happy to load the cert to the memorial right away so that you can have access to it.

Please use the Suggest a Correction link under the "Edit" tab to request corrections, updates, transfers, etc. I am always willing to transfer non-family members, but please use the Suggest a Correction link.

I called the Monte Vista Cemetery for more information regarding Jerucia Sheets. They told me that the original cemetery records were destroyed in a fire and that subsequently people attempted to recreate the records from inscriptions on markers. They have no information as to who the original informant was. Also the lady told me that the existing records are not reliable and should not be considered as proof. Do you have any other information that could prove this relationship?

Would you please take a picture of Ida Lee's grave buried in Rehobeth Cemetery and remove the one taken in Big Creek UMC Cemetery? Thanks very much.

Moises Griego
Dear Judi,

I am researching my paternal grandfather's WWI army unit, Company B, 355th Infantry, 89th Division. According to the History and Roster of the 355th Infantry, Moises Griego also a member of this unit.

I'm not exactly sure where I'm going with my project, but want to eventually publish something. Would it be permissible to use your photograph of the grave of Moises Griego (Find A Grave Memorial# 81230155) should I eventually publish something?

Thank you,

With warm regards,

Bryan Anderson

RE: Old Manassa Cemetery
Thanks for telling me about the Old Manassa Cemetery. I understand more about it now. I did find Darwin's mother. She was George and Eugenia McNelly's daughter. No husband was mentioned. I did put her name on the grave as his mother. I requested pictures of each of the four infants grave markers, but there probably don't have one. If you run across your picture of the sign listing all of those buried there, I would appreciate a copy. Don't spend time looking for it, just if you run across it. I so appreciate your time in responding to my message. You are a blessing to many.
