I'm doing some genealogy research on Margie Adkinson Bentley. You manage her page, and I was wondering if you had any further info about any Adkinsons in Baker, Mitchell, or any of the surrounding counties. I'm specifically looking for information about Margie's mother, Rachael Cauley Adkinson. Thanks for your help.
|Mary ||RE: John D & George Mitchell Hashagen|
Thanks for all your work. I did some checking as well and came across some of the same information. I actually had three more children other than the ones we had found graves for. One was George, another was Georgia and the third was Fannie Tison. Tison is a family name for the Richard(e)'s which lends me to believe there may have been a child with this name.
However, I also came across some interesting information last night. My husband has a 4th cousin dna match to a Regina Batts. Her line comes from Jane Ann Richard(e) and George Warren Mitchell. She has listed a George S. Mitchell born 1870, died 1921. This George would have been born after George Warren died but Jane could have been pregnant at the time. This line ends up in Oklahoma. If perchance the match is wrong and the line isn't from Jane Ann Richard(e), then the dna match has to be somewhere else. I find it hard to believe that Jane would name 2 or 3 children George or Georgia.
I am thinking maybe a brother of George's maybe the parent of some of these and that people have confused the trees. But that doesn't explain the dna match.
Interesting, isn't it. Feel free to keep researching and by the way, my real brick wall is Major John boston, 1737-1810 from Onslow County, NC. Hehe!

Continuing my research on the children of George and Jane Mitchell. I see you made a memorial for George Mitchell Hashagen, 76573169. I found 1870 and 1880 census info for a son of Jane's who was 2 in the 1870 and 12 in the 1880 census. Works for me, however, I am confused by the gravestone. Appears that the part that said "Wife of J D Hashagen" was ground down as though it was a mistake. Do you recall noticing that? I am wondering if this is Jane's son? What do you think?

Sorry, I read my message again and it is not clear. I had George as Jane's husband but had not researched him or the 3 children buried with him. I am not questioning if they are his or the two buried with Jane. I have 2 more children in my tree for Jane and George. They are the ones I still need to research. Sometimes, I type faster than I think!

Thank you for the information. I actually had him as her husband and the 5 other children, the 3 buried in the cemetery with George and two others whom I have not researched as of yet. My main goal was to enter all 15 of the children of John Charles and Melinda Sherrod Tison Richard(e). Most had memorials already but some didn't have all the relative/spouse information linked. I got side tracked when another dna match asked me to help her with her Richard(e) line. so I got as far as Jane and her two daughters and stopped. Now I just have to make sure the other two children are George Warren Mitchell's children and find them. If they are, they must have been born just before he died.
Thanks again for your help.

I am sorry for the error. I really dislike entering edits from the memorial. to me, it lends itslef for errors. Anyway, Jane is the daughter of John Charles Richard #30430111 and Melinda Sherrod Sheffield Tison Richard #30430146. They are my husband's GGGrandparents on his paternal father's side. Most of the family is buried in the Richard Family Cemetery on what was the Sugar Grove Plantation, now Santa Fe River Ranch. We have visited the cemetery. The Boston Family Farm boardered their property.
I would love for you to transfer the memorial to me. I am only interested in family members. I want to be able to enter as much as I can as far as full name, spouses and siblings for future generations. Thanks for your help.

|Lee Dixon||transfer of memorials and the Palmer name|
Thank you for being so helpful and generous with your time. My Palmer ancestors came into south west Georgia from the Buena Vista / Columbus area.The family name was originally spelled PARMER and Uncle Gordon's brother Lester Palmer still pronounced his name as "Parmer" until his death. I have no verification but family members told me that when they moved to Thomas County the schoolteacher made them spell the name as Palmer. There is a Parmer cemetery in Buena Vista area that holds the grave of my great great grandfather Parmer. You may find that your husband's Palmer ancestors were also originally Parmer.
