I became interested in family history in May 2010 when my mother's sister passed away. All three sisters had passed within three years! It made me realize that the older generation was leaving and if I wanted to know more about our family, I better start asking questions! I got very interested in family history and discovered that I really enjoy visiting eastern NC cemeteries, taking pictures of headstones, and figuring out who the people were and if/how they were related to me. I focus on Martin County (my dad's family) and Wilson County (my mom's family).

I am a member of the DAR. John Jackson Morgan Sr of Nash County, NC is the first Revolutionary War patriot I have been able to prove my connection to.

This hobby (obsession?) has been a real blessing in many ways. The best part is meeting relatives I never knew I had, and becoming friends with some of the most wonderful people I've ever known.

When contacting me about a memorial or photo I have added, PLEASE INCLUDE THE MEMORIAL NUMBER.

I just wanted to thank you for the photograph you posted, several years back, of this dear lady's tombstone. Technically, she was not a relative, though she WAS my father's stepmother. She married my grandfather, whom I never knew, later in life. Each of them had been widowed twice, and all of their children were grown. I remember being amazed when we went to visit her on her birthday, and I -- wide-eyed child --- asked her how old she was, and she laughingly said "19" .... I hadn't calculated that as a leap-year-baby, she was then 76! Thanks again for your participation in this community of seekers of family history.

Have you found any information on Ed or Molly Strickland? I have found no record other than the information listed on Grady D D.C.

Sorry, I just realized that you manage many of my husband's family members' memorials. May I request to manage the ones you manage from his entire line by sending all the memorial numbers in one email? Would you prefer individual emails instead?

I would like to manage the memorial for Stephen E. Manning, my husband's uncle. I've never asked to do this before so I hope this is the correct way to do this.
Thank you,

Hey Deborah, thanks for a quick reply. I'm not related, but our town has come across some graves that are and we are trying to get some information so that we can determine what can be done with what we have found. Thanks so much for you help. It actually led us to the town where his grandfather is from.

Hello. Regarding #35227641 Henry Short. I was wondering where this cemetery is located at. Also, if you had any other information related to this family. We found headstones for two of his children, however they are not in Oakdale cemetery as it is said for them to be. These headstones are located in Lake Waccamaw, NC. Your help is greatly appreciated. Thank you. Dawn

Henry Parrish Jr.
RE: Mary Oreka Parrish Peele
His mother was Elizabeth "Betsey " Scott. His wife at the time of his death was Mary Parrish but it was interesting to see that he never divorced his first wife Fannie Lucas. She is listed as a widow on the 1920 and 1930 census records when George was clearly very much alive.

Thank you so much for taking time to send very valuable information for his memorial. Sharing with others on Find A Grave makes for more information available for those still with us, and is a huge asset for generations to come. I appreciate hearing from you and thank you again.....
