Bio and Links
Bio Photo In early 2015, the Golden Gate National Cemetery Photography Project completed its 3-year-long effort. The cemetery, located in San Bruno, San Mateo County, California, is now 99.96% photographed, with less than 50 inscriptions that need to be photographed.

Since March 2015, I have been photographing the markers in the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Colma, San Mateo County, California. Only 23% of the 355,000 markers there have been photographed. Many of the burials are reinterments from the now defunct Calvary Cemetery in San Francisco. I am currently posting photographs in Section V: For Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery the San Francisco Genealogy website is invaluable:

http://www.sfgenealogy.com/php/cemetery/cemeteryindex.php?

I add new memorials as need be and add missing information and links.

Please contact me if you have taken a better photograph of a headstone for a memorial (e.g., with better lighting), and I will be happy to remove my photo.

Golden Gate National Cemetery Credits:

FAG members Samme Templin, Theresa Miller, Christine S., and Cindy S. helped post the photos.

FAG contributor Stewart Blandon completed Section 2E. Stewart also created an excel spreadsheet for the burials in the cemetery that has been vital for the project. Stewart and Kathleen Clemence added plot information to memorials.

FAG contributor Kathleen Clemence completed Section R.

FAG contributor Christine and Winmar finished photographing and posting photos from Section MA.

Notes on the Golden Gate National Cemetery:

Section A: Redo north facing markers starting with A-133.

Section E: Contains markers for 45 graves of German and Italian prisoner of war from World War II; there also about 100 graves of servicemen who died between 1865 and 1910.

I am currently interested in the Brocher, Lahey, Williamson, Weber, and Grumann families of eastern Wisconsin, particularly Manitowoc County.

I am also researching Nuzum, Wright, Wheeler families of western Wisconsin.

Finally, I am researching Welch, Belden, Dunbar familiies of southeastern Minnesota.

Tom, sorry for the delay in correcting the memorial. The headstone shows 1885 and the CA Death Index shows 1895. I put "discrepancy" on the memorial.

Thanks.

Hi Tom,

May I copy the headstone stone photo of Thomas J and Marie J McLaughin at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, San Mateo, CA. I would like to add this to my family tree with Ancestry.

I will also add you name as the volunteer and contributor to the photo.

Thank you,

Judy

RE: Adeline May Quinlan Burk
This is true. Luke is brother not son. I was in error saying that. But again Adeline Quinlan Burk is not buried there and I am requesting that you remove Luke's photo from her page memorial number 169996470. It is not her headstone.
If you go to http://www.sfgenealogy.com/php/cemetery/cemeteryindex.php? You will find that Adeline M Burk was buried at Holy Cross cemetery in Colma, San Mateo County, California.

Thank you.

RE: Adeline May
Hi Tom,
There is an Adeline buried here. It is her daughter and is inscribed on her husbands headstone John C Burk. Adeline May "Ada" Quinlan Burke Died in Sacramento, CA and was buried at a different cemetery than her husband and daughter.

You seem to have uploaded the wrong headstone pic. The photo is of her son. Can you delete please and thank you!

RE: Nancy Boone
Thanks, Tom. Didn't want to leave you hanging on the DNA aspect. As you might guess, some family members are sticking to the Daniel Boone connection.
