This has been my hobby for over seven years, started long before I discovered any websites for posting them.|
I find myself concentrating on the older, broken, unreadable tombstones, the ones that, because of layers of mold, lichen and grime, are so obscure that people tend to walk right past them. I get more satisfaction uncovering a lost individual's stone than I do photographing huge monuments that will be around for a thousand years and those more modern ones of the men whose bones have partially disintegrated while still clothed in the everlasting polyester suits that they were buried in!

|Alice Adams||Looking for Two Moore relatives|
I am trying to find the location at the Fairview Cemetery for my Gr Gr Grandfather, George(a Civil War Vet) and his wife, Nancy. I believe she is buried there, too. Their full names are George Moore and Nancy C. (Young) Moore. Geo. serviced in the Iowa 21st Infantry, Co. H, from 1862-1865. He died Nov. 6, 1903, per a letter received in 1960 from the Iowa State Depart. of History and Archives, Des Moines. I have no idea when Nancy died but she was still alive in 1900,in Manchester(Delaware County), per the Census records. I am looking in both Farley(Dubuque) and Manchester, as they lived in both areas. Thanks much, Alice M. Adams

Thank you for all of your hard work. It can be a challenge to uncover older, broken, and unreadable tombstones.
I think the surname for Catherine should be spelled: AEPPLI
Find A Grave Memorial #8310805
PLEASE remove your duplicate photo of her stone, you added yours after I had mine placed when I created her memorial. When you see a photo, please do not add another. Thank you.

In 2011 you created a memorial for Jefferson Lowe (#76897916) and one had already been created for him in 2006 (#14171387). His real name was Thomas Jefferson Lowe but he went by Jefferson Lowe, this is why there must have been some confusion. It would be nice if you would delete your memorial since it was made after the other one and yours is a duplicate (see Find A Grave rules).

Just wanted to say thanks for all you diligence and hard work when it comes to all the graves you have researched on this site, as a fair amount of them are my relatives. It has helped me tremendously in tracing my roots. I really appreciate how difficult and mind boggling it can be. Especially when you have obituaries posted and calculated relationships. Thanks you so much!
