|I have contributed over 1800 memorials , most of which are not related to me. I have transferred as many of those as I have been requested to into the care and keeping of relatives. I photo graves. I dont add complete bio's that I have no way of verifying. Save that for genealogy sites where they belong.|
If you find errors, I am happy to correct them to match the stone. I will even trust so far as to add months and days when not on the stone as long as contradictory information isnt available.
I photograph stones so you can find your loved ones and ancestors. Thats what I do.
I take no compensation and don't copyright the photos so that you may freely use them.
Please dont ask me to create a complete life story for each individual. If you wish to do that, ask for a transfer.
For those who have written in the kind spirit of the site, and those who have posted my ancestors, thank you for your dedication. It is appreciated!

I am researching to write a book on a house and Solomon, I think will be in it.
Please add this obituary to his memorial.
From: The Westmoreland Journal (Jeannette, PA), Wednesday, 25 May 1904
AGED CITIZEN PASSES AWAY
Solomon Altman the oldest citizen of Manor and among the oldest in the county, died at 6:30 o'clock Saturday evening, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Lowery.
Mr. Altman had been a sufferer for a long time and was blind and almost deaf.
He was born in Hempfield township, October 4, 1813 and was in his ninety-first year. His wife was Margaret GONGAWARE, of near Harrison City. This union was blessed with ten children, five girls and five boys of which five are yet living; Mrs. Van Brant-hoover and Mrs. John Kennedy, Penn; Mrs. John Lowery, Manor; Lewis Altman, Greensburg and , John Altman of Youngwood. He also had twenty-six grandchildren and eleven great grand-children.
Mr. Altman followed farming the greater part of his life and in former years lived in The Old Stone House, just below Good Street, Jeannette.
He then moved to Penn, where he lived for a number of years, later going to Manor, where he and his aged wife lived with their daughter, Mrs. Lowrey.
Mr. and Mrs. Altman were married 62 years, January 26, 1901 (they were married 26 January 1842).
Mr. Altman was a member of the Lutheran Church.
Funeral services were held at the Lowrey home, at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon. Interment in Brush Creek cemetery.
To the aged wife, and children, the Journal expresses sympathy and consolation.

I've been doing research and I believe the maiden name for Susanna Gross Baughman is actually Susanna Speelman Baughman. I found out by looking at death certificates of her children who list her maiden name. I submitted the error, but wanted to explain myself also. The tombstone itself does not mention the maiden name, so if not comfortable changing one to the other, I believe at the very least the maiden name should simply be removed. There is a lot of confusion regarding multiple John and Susanna Baughmans in the area, and I think this record may be playing into it.
