Bio and Links
Bio Photo I was born Elizabeth Kate Orr (always gone by Kate) to Webster Thaxton (Web) and Josephine Marie Wilson Orr in Rayle, Georgia. I would say that the majority of my family are from Wilkes and Oglethorpe County, Georgia. I no longer live in Rayle, Georgia, but Roswell, Georgia with my husband, Clay, and our two dogs. The house where I grew up is still in my family and I try to get down there every few months to visits cousins, do research, etc. I started doing genealogy research where my mother left off (she and my father are both deceased). She had researched both her and my father's direct lines fairly far back and she had some information on the siblings of my direct ancestors, but I wanted to learn more so I've been collecting more information on both my direct and indirect ancestors. Who they were, what they did, what they looked like, where they are buried. So most of the cemeteries I have entered into Find A Grave are those I have gone to in search of my ancestors. I'll often take a picture of the gravestone, enter it into my Family Tree Maker and figure out the connection. Which is why when I upload the information to Find A Grave, people may wonder why only pictures of select graves were taken and not all of them, also why everyone buried in the cemetery is not listed. There are times when others are owners of information they submit, I try to only ask for my direct ancestors to be transferred to me, but there are also times when I ask for my aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. to be transferred to me. Many times people enter information into Find A Grave from books, etc. and once they've entered the information they no longer really maintain the record, how could they, they don't even know the person. Even if I've never met the person, I know them from my parents research or from the records they saved, etc. So I really appreciate it when these records get transferred to me.

Hi! I see that you uploaded a picture (Memorial #50579103) of my Grandfather's (James Albert Taylor). Did he have family in that area? He died in July 1931 and my father was born in August 1931, so I never knew much about my grandfather.

Thank you!

Wow!!! The book is so exciting! Thank you for sending me the link! I have a few suggestions on my branch for Marshall Styles which I will email him.
This explains where Francis Marion Appling and Frances Ann (Ussery) Appling Peirce got their sonís name Colley!!!! (Frances Ann was my GG-grandmother on my grandmotherís side and she was also my GG-aunt on my grandfatherís side. So, if I can read the charts right, Colley Appling was my 1st cousin 4 times removed, and my 1C-5R.
I have a few suggestions on my branch for Marshall Styles which I will email him.
I would like to keep in touch with you. Can you send me your email address? (You may send it as a suggestion for a correction to one of the Walker babies so that it wonít show in the public messages.)
Thank you!
Lisa

Walker babies
Hi Kate,
Thank you for the updates on Fannie # 138178485 and James # 138178441.
Since you are from Georgia, are you kin to the Applings? Or how did you know the babiesí middle names?!
Their mother Clemmie Applingís oldest brother was married to my GG-grandmother. So she was like a great-aunt to my mother. When my mom was young, she lived in Guadalupe County, while Clemmie was still living there. She hadnít moved to the Confederate Womanís Home yet (sometime before 1940).

RE: James Morgan Lindsey, Jr.
Kate, I am trying to establish that my Aunt Marguerite/Margaret Thistlewood, who was married several times was married to James Morgan Lindsey, Jr. I think the marriage would have been brief, but cannot figure out if I am going down a rabbit hole or really have my info correctly documented. No one has written to me at Ancestry to tell me I am all wrong, but no one on Ancestry seems to have James Lindsey in his/her tree, except for me. Marguerite had an Aunt named Charlotte Thistlewood, who married a Messer and lived in Macon, Bibb Co., GA, so not sure if that is your husbands family or not...lots of similar names. One of the Thistlewoods married a Josephine Ruth Wilson.

Findagrave Memorials
Kate, could you please tell me if the Joseph Augustus Thaxton buried in the Maxeys Sunset Cemetery, Memorial # 61255029 was the son of Augustus Lee Thaxton and Mary Jane West Thaxton? My grandmother was Evye Irene Thaxton, granddaughter of Yelverton Thaxton, Jr. I realize this is not my direct line but I am also doing some research on extended family. My email address is jjramsey42@msn.com.

Locating my Grandparents Graves
Hello Kate
I am Marjorie Bracey Jones. My paternal grandparents are buried in the Sharon Methodist Church Cemetery. Frank P Bracey and Kitty Pate Bracey. My Uncle James Bracey may be there as well. I did not see their names listed but I a pretty sure they are there. I have an obituary from my grandfather and it says he was buried there in October of 1957. Do not know about my grandmother.

Can you help me in anyway?

Thanks and God Bless
