Bio Photo My precious Daddy passed away in April of 2016. It is a loss from which I will never recover. Please visit his Memorial #132416828. Always a Daddy's Girl <3

When I request a photo of a marker, please only post one. Overzealous photographers need to realize that photos of the person or their family should have a place on the memorial without having to pay.

I add memorials of those I do not know, because their family may search for them one day and find them here, and be thankful someone took the time to add them and their edited obit info. F A G rules: Find A Grave takes no position on the appropriate timing of submitting such indexes (which means, there is no time table rules on adding memorials).

"snarky" requests for transfers, duplicate deletions and updates will be ignored. I do not respond to bad manners or know it all people. Unpleasant people give FAG a bad name.

I started my walk through genealogy in the 1990s. Well before the days of computers, I sent out letters to long distance relatives sending postage paid envelopes for them to respond....back then phone calls were long distance, unlike today. I received many responses and kept them all in a brief case for years.

Many of the extended family that I got responses from have since passed away, but I have a piece of family history in the letters that I received.

Now, my goal is to connect relatives... starting with mine and venturing out with others, with time. I find this important for our future generations.

I believe you should be thorough when you add an obit and connect the dots by connecting relatives, especially those in the same cemetery.

If you find your name listed as a survivor in an obituary I have posted and would like your name removed, just ask. It will be removed promptly. I think obituaries add a lot of genealogical information (and genealogy research, I do edit to the next generation, deleting grandchildren and extended family) that if not captured will be lost, with cremation on the rise related to the cost of living, this may be all that remains to memorialize our loved ones. If a newspaper or funeral home has already published a name in an obituary, anonymity is already compromised, if that's what you want to call it (with the internet ruling our world, what is private anyway ?).

My newest quest with FAG is this: When I add a memorial and an obit, I first edit to the next generation only but most importantly, I research to see if obits are available but not listed for predeceased relatives. If I find obits, I send them to be added by the manager of those memorials.

Any job worth doing, is worth doing right.
Please be thorough. EDITS and OBITS ARE IMPORTANT. Linking people to the previous generation IS as important as adding a memorial If all you do is add a memorial without linking, or trying to link to their family, you are doing a very poor job. No one should be forgotten.

I will Transfer only through edit, not message and via find-a-grave guidelines. You must do most of the work, sending from the memorial and posting you FAG#. I will not do that. I do enough on FAG. You want it bad enough, you can do your part, but only through FAG guidelines.......public messages for transfers will simply be ignored.

Remember, Find A Grave is a public site.

Concerning transfers which is listed above but continues to be ignored:

I will Transfer only through edit, not message and via find-a-grave guidelines. You must do your share of the work; sending from the memorial and posting you FAG#. I will not do that. You can do your part, but only through FAG guidelines.......public messages for transfers will simply be ignored.

If you want information added, I will happily add the info, simply send through the memorial through edits.
pet peeve....people that add memorials and do not link their deceased family a good job or don't do it at all. These are the ones that are simply out for numbers.

Last but not least from F A G rules:
Find A Grave takes no position on the appropriate timing of submitting such indexes.

Grouchy comments are NOT welcome!!
Everyone has opinions, and not everyone wants to hear them, especially if you are a sourpuss.

Again, all snarky requests will be ignored.
You do not need to tell me how I need to conduct my business on FAG.

Always remember, you can catch more flies with honey than you can with vinegar. Have a nice day now, y'all.

anyday I don't get bird-dogged by a member of FAG is a good day....

Doris N. Bell-Melrose Cemetery

I am Doris' daughter, Gwen Bell Darby. I would like for you to transfer her site to me. She is actually buried elsewhere under a different name and I will update the site.

Many thanks.

I have added the obituary to his memorial. I edited the last names of the survivors for their privacy.
