I am an avid family historian for over 30 years and a native Montanan. When I was working on my MA thesis in History ("Myron Brinig's Butte: Jews in the Wide Open Town"), I spent a summer transcribing the information from the graves at the B'Nai Israel cemetery in Butte (my home town).
Family names I am researching include:
Wilson - McWhirter
Chartier/Carter - Neveu
Bertrand - Kuether
Sutherland - Sollars
Brittain - McMinn
Vance - Cole
Douthitt - Moore
Dillworth - Stilwell
Find a Grave is not a scholarly website. I think it has many purposes including providing catharsis and aiding with the grieving process, helping people with their family history, connecting relatives, remembering the dead, finding burial sites, etc. Those who think it is only for locating graves have a narrow imagination.
Sometimes all we know about a family member is what is printed in an old biography or what someone told us. This acts as a foundation for finding, correcting, adding to their history. I believe this should be a friendly collaborative process where we build together a story as we find more information. I will make mistakes. Feel free to let me know and I will correct.
My philosophy on transfers is simple - I believe memorials should be in the hands of relatives, even if not close relatives. I am happy to transfer, in fact I am waiting for the relatives of the B'Nai Israel and St. Patrick's cemetery memorials to contact me to care for their family memorials. I'm happy to transfer to relatives.

I have deleted the two Lutz memorials I had. So glad you found them.
Thanks for heads up on linkage to parents.
I have no memory as to why this was linked to them, I have deleted it.

I have posted the headstone photo for Edward and wife on the memorials you created. Also sent you an edit with the text of Edward's obit in newspaper. Wife died in 1988 and Seattle Times on-line changed and not able to get an obit for her.
Let me know when you have the text of obit added to your memorial for Edward...then I will delete both the memorials I created. This puts the memorials in your hands...glad you found what I had created. Happy to get them to family.
I sent you an edit to link Samuel, #124750527 with his spouse, Katherine, #155502816 and deleted my #155502840 for Samuel. I hope that clears things up. I think that's the only thing I had to do. Thanks for letting me help you on this.

Hi Pam and thank you for creating this great memorial! Pierre is a 7XGGF maternally. The events at Lachine were both tragic and fascinating. Fortunately for me, someone survived!
Best regards, Joe

Pam - I have done extensive family research work on many early families in Montana over the years. Not people I'm related and my research on them was simply voluntary research work. I've presented my research on them in a several different trees I own on Ancestry.com. All public trees. I've also submitted a great number of edit notices in respects to their grave entries based on my research work on those families.
Keep up the good work!

Thank you so much for your quick response, Pam. I will share them in my tree and list "Pam" as having contributed them to Find-A-Grave. Most on Find-A-Grave have no issues with others using their photos but SOME do and all photos on Find-A-Grave fall under copyright laws.

Pam - Do you allow photos you post on entries to be shared on family trees? I've done research on his family and adding your photos of him would put them out there for others to have access to. I use no photo on Find-A-Grave without the permission of the person who a added it.
